So we made spaghetti alla vongole for dinner, and it was good.

Have noticed a lot of commercials suddenly using Christmas music. The grocery store I went to this afternoon had a fake Christmas tree up. Too early, I say!

I really don't care about the new LJ personal info page. No, it's not very attractive -- there's way too much blank white space at the top, and that's visually unappealing. And Nature abhors a vacuum, or something like that. But I don't come to LJ for the personal info page. I come here because all you amazing people are here, and you're all different, and fascinating to listen to, and it's like this humming network with something happening and folks talking and people living, every minute of every day. And I love that.

Wow, do I sound like a total dweeb. I should drink more red wine. Hee.

If you sound like a dweeb? Then, um, hi there. My name is Dweebmare. Nice to meet you.

Hand me a glass of that wine, will you? I don't have any, and I'm WAY TOO AWAKE for this time of night. That weird, unfocused kind of awake that means I can't write, either.

*hmph*

Perhaps I should make some peppermint tea and see if that helps take off just enough of the edge so that I can get creative.

DOOOO EEEEET.

*sips own peppermint tea*

BTW--I take mine with milk and sugar (like I take almost all my tea). How about you?

Honey in my peppermint tea. Nice, soothing honey.

Going now to DOOOO EEEEET.

You are aware, aren't you, that you're the one who reminded me how much I love the stuff and that I needed to buy more?

Bleh, milk in mint tea? I can only drink milk in regular tea and some of the holiday herbal blends. Peppermint must remain unadulterated!

I almost never look at the profile pages, anyway. So I'm reluctant to get all het up about them. Hm.

You know what I really love? My mom's homemade red raspberry jelly. It's like summer in a jam jar. :)

PERSPI!!

*WHUMP*

I'm so happy to see you. And? I'm about to go downstairs and make some peppermint tea, which I hope will take the unfocused jangly quality off of my state of awakeness and allow me to, you know, write something.

I can't drink peppermint tea; for some reason it makes me nauseous (probably because I drank it while nauseous a few too many times, so now my brain has connected the two states, like it did with chammomile) but you can have mine.

Mmm, writing something. That sounds like a good idea; I might do that after I chase down the child, who seems to be naked in an unauthorized manner.

The new profile pages bother me because this is a big, sweeping change that wasn't given any consultation from the main userbase. So it's as much a principle issue as it's a design question.

I love Livejournal for what it provides, and will stick with it, but times like this make me wonder how well it knows to treat itself as a profitable business.

AUGH Christmas creep is so awful. It's worse in Canada because our Thanksgiving is in October and so there's not even Thanksgiving to break the two months between Hallowe'en and Christmas. :p

Hi. <3 I am not encouraged to drink wine or alcohol currently (I could, considering I have very little, but it's not good to do with my meds and I don't crave it, so it's not bothering me to not have it) so you can have my glass of red wine if you like.

Did your icon get randomly replaced by our Russian robot overlords, or do you really have a Twilight icon?

I ask the important questions!

I agree about the personal info page. I started using it in beta because of course when they say they're going to change it, they're going to change it. Like new Facebook, people will adapt.

LOL!

No, I think it's really a Twilight icon. I saw it in [livejournal.com profile] le_fetish's last post, and just fell in love with the image -- the open hands, the apple.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for archetypal images.

I ask the important questions!

Yes! *hugs you*

It is a lovely image! That is true. But I would be surprised if you were reading the books.

*hugs back* I would offer you some of my tea! As I have no red wine. It is very smoky chai, prepared Indian-style with whole spices and loose tea (I used lapsang souchang, which is unusual). But I suspect I will drink it all, and besides, it's made with soymilk.

The Russian Robots switched my "duck cane" icon for one I do not recognize at all. I'm not sure if anyone sees this but me, though.

What you should see here is a photo of a metal cane top, in the form of the head of a duck. What I'm seeing is some weird woman making bizarre hand signals on the top of her head.

ETA that ... I think it's a woman, but I wouldn't bet money on it, necessarily.

I like how you describe LJ. It's very true, that LJ is a network of something new happening every day and how many different people there are.

I hate the new profile page. But my main worry is that one day LJ will do something to LJ itself, to drastically change how it operates. That's what I am most concerned about. That hasn't happened yet, so I shouldn't be concerned about it. But. You never know. You know?

Oh no, I know. I don't want LJ to change, and I do worry that it will, and we'll have absolutely no recourse. I honestly don't want to start over again on insane.journal, or blurty, or ink-whatever-it's-called.

It just seemed to me that the profile page, in terms of people complaining about it, is a lost proposition from the start because it's something that LJ can point to and say, "Well, where were all you folks when it was in beta?" If 3,000 people (or however many comments it's up to now) hate it, why weren't they speaking up then? The button was up there on the page, but I don't think anyone really cared about it until it was presented as a fait accompli. I'm not saying people are wrong for complaining, but that perhaps a better battlefield could have been chosen.
