Thursday Night Scattershooting

So we made spaghetti alla vongole for dinner, and it was good.
Have noticed a lot of commercials suddenly using Christmas music. The grocery store I went to this afternoon had a fake Christmas tree up. Too early, I say!
I really don't care about the new LJ personal info page. No, it's not very attractive -- there's way too much blank white space at the top, and that's visually unappealing. And Nature abhors a vacuum, or something like that. But I don't come to LJ for the personal info page. I come here because all you amazing people are here, and you're all different, and fascinating to listen to, and it's like this humming network with something happening and folks talking and people living, every minute of every day. And I love that.
Wow, do I sound like a total dweeb. I should drink more red wine. Hee.

Date: 2008-11-07 04:14 am (UTC)Hand me a glass of that wine, will you? I don't have any, and I'm WAY TOO AWAKE for this time of night. That weird, unfocused kind of awake that means I can't write, either.
*hmph*
Perhaps I should make some peppermint tea and see if that helps take off just enough of the edge so that I can get creative.

Date: 2008-11-07 04:15 am (UTC)*sips own peppermint tea*
BTW--I take mine with milk and sugar (like I take almost all my tea). How about you?

Date: 2008-11-07 04:18 am (UTC)Going now to DOOOO EEEEET.
You are aware, aren't you, that you're the one who reminded me how much I love the stuff and that I needed to buy more?

Date: 2008-11-07 04:14 am (UTC)I almost never look at the profile pages, anyway. So I'm reluctant to get all het up about them. Hm.
You know what I really love? My mom's homemade red raspberry jelly. It's like summer in a jam jar. :)

I'm so happy to see you. And? I'm about to go downstairs and make some peppermint tea, which I hope will take the unfocused jangly quality off of my state of awakeness and allow me to, you know, write something.

Date: 2008-11-07 04:21 am (UTC)Mmm, writing something. That sounds like a good idea; I might do that after I chase down the child, who seems to be naked in an unauthorized manner.

Date: 2008-11-07 04:17 am (UTC)I love Livejournal for what it provides, and will stick with it, but times like this make me wonder how well it knows to treat itself as a profitable business.

Date: 2008-11-07 04:18 am (UTC)Hi. <3 I am not encouraged to drink wine or alcohol currently (I could, considering I have very little, but it's not good to do with my meds and I don't crave it, so it's not bothering me to not have it) so you can have my glass of red wine if you like.

Date: 2008-11-07 04:48 am (UTC)And thank you for your glass! ;-)

I agree about the personal info page. I started using it in beta because of course when they say they're going to change it, they're going to change it. Like new Facebook, people will adapt.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for archetypal images.
I ask the important questions!
Yes! *hugs you*

Date: 2008-11-07 04:29 am (UTC)*hugs back* I would offer you some of my tea! As I have no red wine. It is very smoky chai, prepared Indian-style with whole spices and loose tea (I used lapsang souchang, which is unusual). But I suspect I will drink it all, and besides, it's made with soymilk.

Date: 2008-11-07 04:29 am (UTC)What you should see here is a photo of a metal cane top, in the form of the head of a duck. What I'm seeing is some weird woman making bizarre hand signals on the top of her head.
ETA that ... I think it's a woman, but I wouldn't bet money on it, necessarily.

Date: 2008-11-07 05:01 am (UTC)It's true! There's always something going on, and sometimes I get all excited and say "YES! That's it exactly!" and sometimes I roll my eyes and say "OMG U IDIOT!" but there's always. something. going. on.
Hee.

Date: 2008-11-07 10:15 pm (UTC)I hate the new profile page. But my main worry is that one day LJ will do something to LJ itself, to drastically change how it operates. That's what I am most concerned about. That hasn't happened yet, so I shouldn't be concerned about it. But. You never know. You know?

Date: 2008-11-07 10:45 pm (UTC)It just seemed to me that the profile page, in terms of people complaining about it, is a lost proposition from the start because it's something that LJ can point to and say, "Well, where were all you folks when it was in beta?" If 3,000 people (or however many comments it's up to now) hate it, why weren't they speaking up then? The button was up there on the page, but I don't think anyone really cared about it until it was presented as a fait accompli. I'm not saying people are wrong for complaining, but that perhaps a better battlefield could have been chosen.

I know this is an old post, but I had to say something. =D
