Very interesting. I must admit that I have problems understanding US health care sometimes.

*grins*

Silja, most of the time we don't understand our health care either.

Hm. That's a...comfort? I think...*g*

Only when it all goes well. Especially with a community hospital, getting out of the place healthy can be a test of human endurance.

Well, I meant that it was a comfort for me that I wasn't the only one utterly perplexed by US health care but I see what you mean :)

Interesting. Reminds me of "The Mistake" too.

Ah, I'd forgotten about "The Mistake." That was Chase, wasn't it? And House basically told him to suck it up?

I'll have to re-read the transcript ...

Yes, the one where Chase made a mistake because he'd received that devastating phone call and later tried to make up for it by confessing to Kayla's brother so the hospital would pay the family damages--except he lied when he confessed.

PPTH, nothing - this is screaming Kingdom Hospital at me, in no small part because one of the plotlines involved a surgeon who thought he could do no wrong.

You'd like KH. Stephen King medical horror/drama miniseries.

I'd suggest finding a copy of the original Kingdom ('Riget', I believe) by Lars von Trier. It's much better and scary as hell. Literally.

Riget, yes. Although to the American's version credit, Dr. Hook is something of a proto-House.

Krogen! Dr. Hook! Yes, that was his name. Did he end up zombified in the US version as well? I have a bizarre degree of love for the scene where the Swedish bloke with the faecal obsession shows up at the memorial service with a spade only to be told that Krogen had asked to be cremated. World class comedy, that.

No, he got to save the day. Still pretty nifty.

I love (in a sarcastic, depressing way) how they're shocked and all "Wow! You mean, if we're honest and admit our mistakes, people are less likely to be mad at us? Well, golly gee! Who'da thunk it?" It makes me want to smack somebody over the head with a book about common courtesy. A big, hefty book.
