Dancing Around the Four Sides

I gave up trying to go spoiler free after this morning when my brain said to me, "Someone's going to commit suicide."

I have an idea of who it will be, too. And it makes me sad because it's a character I like.

My hope, if House has some kind of crash (and I think it's realistic that he would: they've been pushing him toward it for five years now) is that Wilson will actually be there for him in some way we can see. I'm not saying bad!fic woobie caretaking, but the sort of thing House could actually handle. Tough-love snarky unyielding caretaking. Heh.

ETA that wait a minute. You said, "Whoever the 'team survivor' is (Kutner or Taub) -- does this mean that we know it won't be Thirteen who survives?

Consensus is that it's either Taub or Kutner who commits suicide. I'm sad because I like both characters a lot, but I especially like Taub. I was speculating tonight that it's Kutner who gets knocked off, because he's become too House-like -- he's smart, he can make intuitive leaps, he doesn't have much of a social life (he sits at night in front of a TV, eating cereal? ouch). And the show can't have two Houses.

I like Taub. I like him a lot, but if my brain was really right? What it said this morning was not actually, "Someone's going to commit suicide" but "Taub is going to kill himself."

I hope I'm wrong, but they planted that seed a while back when the POTW was in severe pain all the time and kept trying to commit suicide. Taub was so angry over it, and then he told the story of his colleague in med school who'd made an attempt. Kutner thought the "colleague" was Taub himself, and the question was really never answered.

Now we've had him going through this rough marriage, almost getting scammed by Slick Boy last week, and House is for unknown reasons pounding on him lately.

If Taub does kill himself I could see it being the Last Straw that pushes House into some kind of meltdown, because he'd have to see himself as partly responsible.

And I can totally see this. Except ... (and there's no way you'd know this) ... the spoiler was very specific that it's someone we'd never suspect, and that we don't see it coming.

Which is what leads me to believe that it could be Kutner, because God knows they've dropped enough anvils on our heads regarding Taub.

Or. The Powers That Be may be underestimating our intelligence.

Or. Thirteen might decide to go out while she's still young, lovely, in love and in control of her life. We really wouldn't see that coming, since she was practically the entire focus of the show for the first half of the season.

Or something could drive Foreman over the edge -- he'll never escape, he'll end up just like House, and ... boy, would we ever not see that coming.

Or do we know it's one of the New Team?

All we know for sure is that it's not House, Cuddy, or Wilson. TPTB were kind enough to give us that -- fandom basically crashed when the spoiler first came out until that clarification was revealed.

Well, I read some bits on the Spoiler Thread at HHOW and TPTB said that Foreman and Thirteen would still be together at season's end and wouldn't be the focus of whatever the main story line was.

So I'm going to guess it's not either of them. And it doesn't seem likely it's Cameron or Chase, since all the hints are that they'll have more screen time next season. Or at least Chase will.

How bizarre would it be if Chase and Cameron got engaged and then Cam killed herself? *shudders*

I don't think it will happen, though. I think one of the newbies will die and House will try to hire Chase back.

I think Shore realized he'd pushed things too far, getting rid of EVERYONE all at once and expanding the cast beyond what the show could comfortably handle. And the person most missed, I think, turned out to be Chase (we don't know if we'd have missed Foreman since he never went away).

This is fun, even though I am certainly all wrong.

I do agree with you, though, that they seriously mis-stepped by trying to have it both ways--getting rid of the Original Flavor Fellows and bringing in a new crew. It irked me considerably.

After rewatching the ep (I get it at 6 pm AND 9 pm local time!), I'm wondering if House went to the psychiatrist because he thinks he's going really truly insane (shivers).
What I don't understand about the spoilers is that by killing one character and putting Chase and Cameron back on full time, they're not reducing the cast - they're INCREASING it.

(Do you remember that fic with House as God and Wilson as Lucifer, and they had been House and Wilson on earth where Wilson didn't remember but they got to this halfway space where they could be together for a short while and Devil-Wilson was all, "WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME" and God-House was all "IT WAS THE ONLY WAY I COULD BE WITH YOU" and man, it sounds more emo than it was, because I am recalling that it was awesome. Hm. Perhaps I need some alcohol...)

And we learned tonight that Wilson's first wife was in a sweat lodge in New Mexico, and that Wilson is making some extra bucks on "the lecture circuit." Hmmm.

We also learned where Wilson's first wife lives, when House so awkwardly inserted it into the one sentence, although now I can't remember. Something Ridge. However, they managed to go the whole ep without revealing her name.

There are a lot of towns in NJ that end in "Ridge". Glen Ridge, Park Ridge, Wood Ridge...uh, possibly more. No idea if any of those map onto what House said, though.
