OMG so tired. Stuck in another low cycle and not sleeping, so creeping along slowly. Did some laundry, vacuumed, put fresh sheets on bed.

Wrote just a little more on that WWII AU -- everything else has stopped again. Am doing this on the fly, so to speak, so keep having to stop and look things up. Listened to a very short clip of an "Axis Sally" broadcast (here). It's funny how all the sources describe her as having a sultry, sexy voice -- I didn't think so, especially compared to such women of the same day as Lauren Bacall and Marlene Dietrich, but whatever.

Mare, I got your card today! I was so surprised, and it made me smile so much.

Mr. Nightdog is making pizza, and we are going to drink red wine. Maybe that will help me sleep.

Hello!! Good to hear from you!

Many hugs to you, darling, and good vibes in the hope that you are feeling better. All I've managed to write today was a commentfic of John and Rodney as platypodes. Heh.

EDIT: Make that BABY platypodes. I need something to drink.

I saw the photo this morning -- is it platypodes and not platypi?

*has no idea*

I hope you got something to drink. *g*

Would you know I actually did research? For commentfic? "Platypodes" and "platypi" and "platypuses" are all acceptable--apparently biologists use 'platypuses' or just 'platypus.'

And I have yet to get that drink...I think I'm going to shower now, and have some Bailey's on the rocks after the Mr. goes to bed. Currently I'm watching men swim very fast. :)

Hee! That's what we're doing. And I'm polishing off the Liberty School Cabernet we had with the pizza.

*feels all warm and fuzzy, imagining us doing the same thing in our living rooms*

I hope the wine is wonderful. :) I'm going to sneak away for a few minutes, but I'll be back!

She's a bit stilted. Perhaps she sounded better in person.

*nods*

That's what I thought! I was expecting to hear some kind of raspy whiskey baritone, and that wasn't it. I might try listening to some of her longer pieces -- maybe this just wasn't a very good example.

On the other hand, I might not even finish this story so I'm not sure it matters.

Carbohydrates and red wine may help, indeed. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon.

Thank you, sweetie. I know it's just part of the Big Cycle, but does it have to be so damn hard sometimes?

Argh! *g*

In theory, one would like to age gracefully. In practice, it's not so easy to be sanguine, particularly when one's body plays up. I know I catch myself wondering "what the hell is this *nonsense*" at times, and then I remind myself "not immortal, remember". :D

Oh, I hope this goes away and you get back to sleeping soon. Insomnia is like some kind of horrible low-grade torture.

It's August, so I have writer's block. (I swear, you could set your watch by it.) Since there was no point in trying to be creative, I spent the morning cleaning out kitchen cupboards while waiting the air conditioning repair guy to show up.

But the important question is, did the A/C get fixed, or are you melting?

After a weekend of sweltering, it is fixed. It was so hot in the house this morning that the chocolate chips in the cupboard were clumping together. Not fun at all.

Heh. Sometimes I feel as if I could just sleep for a week. *sighs happily* That would be so nice.

I just keep telling myself it's all part of the Big Cycle and it'll go away on its own. It does help. *g*

I'm taking a little break from (re)painting the Hobbit Hole.

That card has been from Minnesota to Florida and back. I bought it last time I was visiting here. I sent it Friday, and I'm surprised it arrived so soon.

I've done nothing writerly today, but I did find a truly amazing Center for the Arts where it's quite possible I'll wind up teaching a class this fall.

It's a beautiful card, Mare, and it was so thoughtful. Mr. Nightdog said, "Wow, did she make that?" and then he urged me to tell you that you are living on the wrong side of the tracks. Ha, ha! He's so funny. *rolls eyes*

And yay for teaching! How wonderful!

I saw the little Chagall-like cat and bird and my brain squealed, "Nightdog!" and that was pretty much that.

The wrong side of the tracks is to the east/northeast of here, a few miles past the Russian restaurant & vodka bar.

You know you want to visit me.

*grins*

Seriously, I always write the dumbest, most embarrassing stuff in cards. I couldn't think of a single intelligent thing to say. So instead I just started doodling.

Indeed, yay for teaching! I'm pretty brain-ded over here...perhaps I will read something. Hm.

Well, it's just a vague thing at this point. The person I need to talk with about it is on vacation and will be back next week.

The lady who gave me this information said they're always looking for people to teach new classes, though, so who knows. I love to teach and there are several things I could teach pretty well.
