... on tonight's House ...

So who had/has syphilis? Besides the patient, I mean? Who ... actually didn't have it? I mean, that was somebody's blood. Somebody who has syphilis, because as far as I know you can't fake a test result like that. And if it was blood that House had deliberately placed there, and labeled as his own for his team to find (and immediately perform tests on -- let's not even get into the ethics of that), then whose was it?

Is there a really obvious answer that's staring me right in the face?

And Foreman? Smokin' hot in that gorgeous suit with the little pinstripe, the pale blue shirt and the golden tie. Oh. My. God.

Nobody had syphilis. Kutner finally deduced that the patient had something that would give him a false positive on the test.

House could have gotten the blood from any of the idiots he runs across in the clinic. Although why he'd hang onto a vial of syphilis-tainted blood "just in case" is a mystery. And Amber is evil, but I think she has no idea just exactly how manipulative Wilson truly is. My husband actually paused the TV halfway through the episode to shout "Wilson's not behaving right! He's too passive." It turned out Corgiguy's instinct was completely correct. :)

Ah, okay. I wondered if that could be it, but it just ... I don't know. Seemed too obvious, maybe.

In my own defense, we were making dinner (chicken curry) while we were watching. Hee!

You know, I'd been wondering why Wilson hadn't shown more evidence of a spine.

Answer: way too much fun to stand back and eat chips while House and Amber fight.

It really didn't occur to me, though, until someone said so, that Wilson was intentionally setting them up to fight. I thought he was letting them, and enjoying the spectacle a bit, but that wasn't quite it, was it?

Perhaps he just wants to get it over with. Let the two dogs fight, see what happens, let it play out before Wilson himself gets too deeply involved.

In any case, I can't help feeling that both House and Amber deserve what Wilson is doing. And I love me some Wicked!Wilson. He's much more like the Wilson we knew back in Season 1, I think.

It took me a minute to realize, after the show had ended, just exactly what Wilson had done.

He is the Master.

And I have only just now figured out what House and Amber were doing, why they were ... what? Changing the Coma Guy's sheets?

Because Cuddy took it upon herself to make both of them "lose a finger" for violating Wilson's agreement. And Wilson, bless his wicked little heart, thought it was extremely amusing.

I wonder how long before House figures out what his bestest buddy is up to?

Wilson used the analogy of dogs in the park, but whenever there's an alpha dog, there's always going to be a beta dog who periodically challenges and looks for a weakness in the top dog. So he's going to be amused for a long time after those two work out their differences and establish which one is alpha dog.

House said he'd switched the blood long time ago, because he knew someone would eventually test him for something.

I adored Wilson's response to that revelation -- he was so amused, almost in awe. I've missed that Wilson, the one who cracks up at House instead of lecturing him.

I saw that sly little grin Wilson had on his face when House and Amber were changing that patients sheets together. Could it be that he's attempting to get her and House together as a couple? Na-a-a-ah...but it occured to me. He manipulates worse than House, because he's 'nice' about it. LOL.

This season started with Wilson escalating the prank war by kidnapping and mutilating House's classic guitar, so I think this is just a reminder that Wilson is in the big leagues when it comes to having fun jerking House's chain. It'll be fun to see when House realizes that.

Unfortunately, I don't get to follow the show as closely as I'd like...but how long do think it will take House to realize what his friend is doing? =D

I still think -- and have a long-latent plot bunny about this -- that the broken guitar was not House's. I think it was a doppleganger, and I think House knew that, and that is why he didn't immediately end Wilson's life.

That's why I could never really like Wilson. Exactly because his niceness masks how manipulative he is and how much of an asshole he could be. Much as Shelob is a self absorbed bitch who wears too much makeup, she doesn't deserve to be left to duke it out with House.

That said, Wilson's bastardliness about the whole situation sets up the fight that he and Shelob will have in the next episode.

And I love that Wilson can't get it up when drunk.

What was the name of the elderly lady, way back when, who had syphilis and therefore a massive crush on House?

And then, when House faked the brain cancer, it turned out that the original "cancer" patient had syphilis, not cancer. So House could have used his blood, too.

Georgia, who wrote him love poetry. You've got to wonder what's in House's home freezer if he can produce a vial of STD-tainted blood on a moment's notice.

It wasn't on a moment's notice. He said he'd planted that blood sample a long time ago, knowing that eventually someone would test him for something.

From: [identity profile] pwcorgigirl.livejournal.com
True. I'd forgotten he said that. You gotta wonder about his desire to toss out red herrings every step of the way, since he'd prefer to throw anyone nosy off with syphilis. :)

From: [identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com
Ah, but he chose syphilis for a reason: it was a disease which could, upon being cured, affect his personality. If he actually had it.

So not only would the nosy party or parties get the shock of finding out that House had syphilis, but then House would get to screw with their minds by pretending that the treatment was changing him.

You silly Nightdog. You can't watch House and cook at the same time. One or the other will be missing a few ingredients.

As for Foreman, while I know Omar Epps is an attractive man, he just does nothing for me. I never, ever think of Foreman as "hot."

Wilson, on the other hand, was ... not "hot" so much as un-freaking-believably adorable. I love it that he had to stay and munch chips, watching Cuddy do House's performance review.

As for House's own "review" of Cuddy? That part really touched me, his barb-covered attempt to tell her that he does respect and care for her. It was very interesting to find that he gives that much depth of thought to the people he cares about.

ETA: Makes me wonder what kind of "review" he'd give to Wilson.

I thought for most of the episode that the blood was Wilson's -- that House suspected for some reason and was having it tested. That would've then been why he got Wilson drunk and "floppy" as [livejournal.com profile] bironic put it, so that Amber wouldn't get it. And then when Amber was mean to House in Wilson's office, House decided, "Eh, never mind; let her get it; I'll cure Wilson tomorrow."

But that's not what happened.

It never occurred to me that the blood would have been Wilson's; there'd have been no way for House to have taken the sample for testing, without Wilson's knowledge.

Heh. Nope, I was with Dee. I too thought the blood was Wilson's, that House had stolen taken it at some unknown point in the past, and that that's how he (House) knew in a previous episode what Wilson's blood type was.

Date: 2008-04-29 03:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deelaundry.livejournal.com
In the real world, sure. But this is House!land. House already stole Wilson's blood once and tested it. Remember the ep where he knew Wilson's blood-type and Wilson asked him where he got the sample?

Date: 2008-04-29 03:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blackmare-9.livejournal.com
Wilson didn't ask where House "got the sample." He asked how House knew.

But we've already -- back in the episode when we learned about Long Lost Brother -- seen House snooping into Wilson's confidential medical files. That's how House knew; the only thing that surprised me was that it surprised Wilson that House had that information.

Actually, a lot of this stuff is the result of writing fanfiction. You end up remembering a lot of nutty things so that you can use them for stories -- or at least not mess up something in whatever you're writing.

Because, you know, the other fans are nutty and obsessive, and they'll notice.

What?

Seriously, though, I had a lot of fun watching this episode. House in black=HOT Y/N? Kutner was the most adorablest. Except then there was WILSON, being EVEN MORE ADORABLEST, with the hand-waving in Cuddy's office and the Drunk!Wilson. And House's little smiles, all over the ep! I want Lisa E.'s arms, holy cow.

And Wilson Wins. Hands down. It's gotta feel great, having a pair of people literally at each other's throats for pieces of your day. :)

LOL I was just so thrown by the syphilis thing because it was so random and didn't make any sense to me, so I was sitting there going, "House has syphilis......??? *CONFUSED AS HELL*" And then I was all, "WAIT. THIS IS GOING TO TURN OUT LIKE HALFWIT, ALA FAKE CANCER, AMIRITE?" Which it did.

But I am still confused about the whole thing. I feel like I missed out on something that everyone else but me gets, but I don't know what it is.

Also, the thing with syphilis - it's never usually tested with a simple, single blood test. It is not unheard of for syphilis to have a false positive, which is why it's always (supposed to be) cross tested with another type of test that examines the antibodies in the blood which identify syphilis - which, that particular test was never performed. So, it's possible it wasn't even syphilis, just a false positive. Much the same as the potw's diagnosis of having neurosyphilis - because that's an infection of the brain and spinal chord, the spinal fluid is always tested to confirm the diagnosis. This test was never performed.

THE MEDICINE WAS VERY CONVOLUTED AND CONFUSING THIS WEEK. But! There was loads of Wilson, some awesome House/Wilson scenes, and a House/Cuddy scene at the end that made me swoon. Thus, I am happy. And Chase! It was a delight to see him on screen, too.

You're right about the medicine, but does anyone watch this show for the medicine anymore? Do the writers even care about the medicine anymore?

I know that none of us want the show to turn completely into Gray's Anatomy, but I confess that at this point, the soap opera is all that I care about.
