nightdog_barks: Can of Maryland Club ground coffee (Coffee)
Cloudy. Warm (75). Possible thunderstorms later today and tonight. Chango is already nervous.

Have discovered why I have been feeling so oddly "off" the past few days. Apparently ... I have shingles. For God's sake. I HAD CHICKEN POX WHEN I WAS A LITTLE KID. WHY IS THE VIRUS STILL HERE? *INSERT LOTS OF REALLY BAD WORDS*

Gah. Gah gah gah. DO NOT WANT! DO NOT WANT VARICELLA-ZOSTER VIRUS, DO NOT WANT TO GO TO THE DOCTOR, DO NOT WANT!!! *THROWS UNSEEMLY TANTRUM*

*sigh* Okay, that's a little better. Poem coming up in a bit, and a Houseficlet later today.

Hee! Valtrex and Vicodin*, to be exact! The doctor's office visit was $45, the Valtrex was $40, and the Vicodin (okay, so it's really hydrocodone APAP) was $5.

Believe me, I'm not complaining. I know how lucky Mr. Nightdog and I are to have health coverage in this day and age.

And it was shingles. Yes indeed. And I still think it's ridiculous that a rash can hurt. I'm thinking this is definitely something Rodney McKay needs to get so he can be offended by it too.

*My PA, Jason, says "Vicodin" and I said "Dr. House!" Jason grinned and started chortling. He's a cool guy. Heh.

Even without drugs (yet). Mr. Nightdog made me chicken soup, Mexican-style, with spinach, chopped serranos, onions, tomatoes, and lime juice. And teeny tiny macaroni estrellitas -- itty bitty little pasta stars -- so pretty in the soup. And we had good white wine and listened to Brazilian music and watched Law & Order with the sound muted and just talked and talked.

And it was good.

And? It's thundering outside, very lightly. Chango's worried and has just now sought shelter in her den. Taking drugs soon (me, that is, not her).

So. Onward.
