1) We saw three geckos on our nightly Layla-walk tonight. They were beautiful little guys, cream-colored with tawny brown markings. She wanted to investigate, but they escaped her inquisitive nose with lizardly ease.

2) Brooks Ghost 7 running shoes. These are what I am wearing for our nightly walks, and guys, they are the best damn walking shoes I have ever owned. They are cushioned and supportive in all the right places, my feet feel GREAT, and they are worth every penny I paid for them ($90 fucking dollars at our local Academy Sports & Outdoors). I have run in them just a little bit, and they are even more amazing, if that's possible.

3) Thorlo women's running socks. Pair these with my Brooks Ghosts and I am ALL SET LIKE A BOSS. :D

4) I finished John Gardner's Nickel Mountain and it was still as melancholy and moving as I remembered. Probably going to read William Gibson's The Peripheral next.

5) Pretend there is a #5 here.

It is raining so hard here that it actually sounds frightening sometimes, loud enough that if a tornado were coming I might not even know.

Those shoes look fun, similar to the kinds of styles I'm liking lately. I never mail order shoes because my feet are wide and few things fit, but I ought to look for those locally in case I can pick up a pair on sale somewhere. I'd really like to not repeat the experience of having worn out sneakers making me miserable from the feet up.
