So tired, so cranky. Very restless night, and then a goddamn telemarketer called at 8:30 in the morning, waking me up. Blocked the number, but srsly, the Do Not Call registry is a joke.

A bit warmer today after two freezing nights. Put flannel sheets on the bed yesterday.

Chango has started having some weakness in her hindquarters. Could be plain old arthritis (she's 10, almost 10 1/2 years old, and I've noticed she's definitely not hearing as well as she used to), could be CDM, because looking over the symptoms reminded me that she was "knuckling under" one of her rear paws much earlier in the year, although it went away on its own and now she's not doing it. But who knows, maybe that was an early symptom. So anyway. Have been browsing through things like doggie stairs and slings this afternoon, which is sort of amusing on some level.

Finished James McPherson's book (it was only about 180 pages). Must pick something new to read, yay. Oh, and looking forward to Elementary tonight.

AH HAHAHHAHAHAHA I SAW THAT TWEET. And I came this close to tweeting back "I WISH YOU WOULD ALREADY." :D

Chango doesn't seem to be in any pain at all, and she's still ready to go for walks (let's go see the MAILMAN!, heh). But this getting old business regarding companion animals sucks. Ptui!

Edited to add that have you seen this? I don't know that Jonny Lee Miller has a dog, so I assume it's Lucy Liu's chocolate lab that eviscerated that squeaky toy. :D

Heeee, I saw that - and since LL tweeted a picture of her dog on set, I'd say circumstancial evidence supports your assumption - but I wouldn't have identified that as a squeaky toy without your help. :D

I've been carrying my arthritic pup up the stairs, but a 1/4 tablet of Rimadyl keeps him mostly okay.

Oh my -- the puppoose is somehow both adorable and hilariously sweet! Somehow I think Chango's a little too big for it, though. :D

Our second dog, Dakota, had terrible hip problems in his old age and was on Rimadyl, and it worked miracles for the longest time.

The very good thing is that she doesn't seem to be in any real pain from her hips. She's totally exasperated, though, that she can't stand up to get on the bed (she stands up, I lift her butt). We have an old dog bed that she's never used, so I was thinking about putting it beside our bed (and baiting it with CHICKEN MEATBALL TREATS YUM) so at least she'd have something soft to lie on. I think the real source of her exasperation, though, is that she wants not just to be on the bed, but to be with US. Sigh.

Oh, I did not see this on Thursday. Poor Chango! :( Maybe if it's arthritis, medication will be all it takes. And a capsule of salmon oil did wonders for Rocket up until his entirely unrelated last illness. He absolutely loved salmon oil smooshed out onto a cracker.

I'm hoping the Pair-a-Dox sisters, being small and cross-breeds, will stay lively long into their lives. It's so hard to see them start declining. *hugs*

Decline is exactly the word I've been looking for, and yep, it's the worst part of animal companionship. The funny thing is, she WAS standing up last night (twice), but didn't stay up long enough for me to get in the bedroom (I was in the den) to help her onto the bed. She was VERY SUSPICIOUS of the soft doggy bed I dragged out, heh.

We can definitely try salmon oil! She does love her dried fish skins. :D
