The Twelfth Doctor

Okay, if it had to be another white guy, I'm super-glad it's Peter Capaldi. The only thing I've seen him in is The Hour, and he was SPECTACULAR as the program manager Randall Brown. Every time he was on screen, he was the center, the one you couldn't look away from.

So I'm pretty excited to see what he makes of the Doctor.

Capaldi was adorable in DW's 4th season episode "Fires of Pompeii." He had another fabulous dramatic turn in Torchwood: Children of Earth. Do watch these if you get the chance.

Thanks for pointing out he was Frobisher in Children of Earth! I remember seeing the Behind The Scenes for it and the director or someone said that in his mind Frobisher was a descendant of the character he played in Fires of Pompeii.
It is disappointing that it's another white guy, great as Capaldi is. Maybe next time.

Peter Capaldi was the Vicomte's long-suffering valet in Dangerous Liaisons, which made him the much-welcome comic relief in that movie. It'll be fun to see him as The Doctor.

Oh my god I think that was one of the first movies we ever saw that had John Malkovich in it! I haven't thought about that film for years. :D

Apparently he was also in Fortysomething, although I don't remember him at all.

He was Ronnie Pilfrey, the other doctor in the practice with Paul and Sarinda. He was smarmy and barely competent, and he hypnotized Paul and made him squawk like a chicken.

Wow, that sounds ... absolutely dreadful. :D

I think it was a case of a good actor saddled with terrible writing and practically no direction. I just adore Pete Capaldi and I practically had to watch the bits with Pilfrey through my fingers.
