Longlist for the Booker Prize announced. The only one of these I know is Mantel's Bring Up the Bodies. Some of the others (especially Will Self's Umbrella) sound terrific!

I haven't read any of them :( I smiled to see that they're emphasizing literary merit and not "readability" this year.

I think I'm going to move Narcopolis up to the top of my "to-read" list. It sounds fantastic.

OMG, didn't that look good? I also thought The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry looked very interesting.

I've only read that one (the Hilary Mantel). And yeah, I thought that was an interesting point about literary merit vs. readability. *g*
