Sun is out for the first time in about three days. Backyard is still pretty wet. The Black Prince tomatoes are finally ripening -- we've had two so far, and omg so GOOD. Lovely, delicate flavor, and not at all acidic. I would definitely plant these again, and I may order seed from somewhere so we can start them early next year. The patio plant isn't doing much, and the cherry tomato is still producing, but I am most delighted with the Prince.

Read Elizabeth Wein's Code Name Verity and really liked it. It felt a bit "golly gee whiz," especially in the second half, but I'd still recommend it -- it's a very nice little puzzle box where just about everything you think you know is up for grabs.

So. Was looking at numbers yesterday and realized I have written more in three months than I wrote all of last year. Ha.

Errands today.

Your tomatoes sound so good! One year for fun I grew some Siberian tomatoes, and it turned out to be the coolest summer in a century so they did very well. The flavor was amazing.

I have taken His Majesty Zippy to the vet for his shots. He was poster kitty for cat-goodness until we put him back in the carrier, and only then did he scream, spit and try to kill us all through the carrier door. The vet tech said, "Boy, I'm glad he waited until now to do that."

And His Majesty has lost a pound and a half, so he's only 17 pounds of bad attitude now. :D

Your flowers sound so nice! One of the things I'm looking forward to getting some plants to put in pots by the front door. That really brightens up a house.

The vets have learned to touch Zip as little as possible. He got his ear and eye exam from a good six inches away so that he wouldn't try to take Dr. Kathy's face off. As long as Zip stays healthy, he seems to do okay with vet car at arm's length. :D

The weather is lovely here today -- crisp and not too hot. There are two doves at the feeder on the back deck. I've never seen them up so close before, as they're usually really shy.
