Tonight's Episode

That was so much better than I thought it would be. It left me genuinely happy. For real. There were moments when I thought I'd need to start a scorecard on all the special guests who turned up, but they all fit fairly well into the story. Jennifer Morrison was AWESOME, and I was so surprised and glad to see Anne Dudek.

Two nitpicks ... did they really need a Patient of the Week? And come on, writers -- you gotta have Wilson not answering his damn phone ONE LAST TIME when they're searching for House? Oy.

But. Overall. I'm happy. I said that already, but it's true. It's really true.

In a side note, I can't help but wonder if RSL has ever been on a motorcycle in his life. :D

Also -- the retrospective was excellent. I hope it's on the S8 DVDs.

When was that? I must have missed it.
I also chuckled at the end, figuring they used a stunt double for RSL on that motorcycle.
I enjoyed the retrospective, especially the paintball fight.

It was when they were talking to Nolan, and Wilson was scrolling through the calls on House's phone -- "hooker, hooker, me (I didn't pick up), patient ... "

The paintball fight was AWESOME!

Oh, right! At the time I figured Wilson didn't pick up because he wasn't speaking to House.

Right now I'm at the "It ended with H-W Alive and Together" stage and nothing hurts.

I will probably be more critical some other day. But I do not think I could have copped with seeing Wilson die, so it's all good for me.

Heh, and I'm still at that stage. They're alive, they're together. That's all I wanted.

I was disappointed with the episode, which is weird because normally I think I like episodes more than the majority of fandom, and eveyone really liked this episode it sounds like. I guess while I didn't want anyone to die on screen, I didn't want it to be happy, exactly. And it's not happy really, but everything seemed so wrapped up in bow, and I guess I always felt House as a show was messier than that.

I did love the returning characters. The one that took me by surprise was Stacy, and it was great to see her again. I also really liked Cameron's tactic when talking to House. And the fact that House's first line was House's last line. But I was never emotionally moved like I was during other episodes. I didn't expect to be bawling like I was during the LOST finale, but I did except to feel a little more.

I dunno, I think I need to watch it again, give it some time before I fully unleash my judgement.

*g* It's okay. If all of us liked the same episodes and had the same opinions, there'd be no stories to tell. Truthfully? I didn't care for parts of this episode, either. It felt to me sort of like "Baggage," but without Doris Egan's magic touch. Which is not to say that I wasn't pleased to see all the guest stars -- I was. It was just that some of them were kind of "meh" to me.

I didn't cry either. I did tear up at the end of Sherlock's "The Reichenbach Fall," but I didn't here.

I--didn't like the retrospective. It seemed so self-aware.

That said, IMHO the finale was excellent. I'm so happy with it!

LOL! I loved the retrospective! Maybe because it was so self-aware? IDK.

I am very happy with the finale. Two days later, now, and I'm still happy with it. :D

As I said over at taiga's, I utterly disliked the finale BUT the fact some people like you enjoyed it made me respect the writer a bit better. Maybe that's what you guys need.
Maybe this finale is like sodas: something most people enjoy and I don't.
Anyway, it was a great show. I think I had unreasonably high expectations.

Heh. As I said to Verb upstream, if all of us liked the same episodes and had the same opinions, it would be a damned boring world and no stories would ever get told. :-D

There were parts of the finale I didn't care for, but in the end, I got what I wanted most -- House and Wilson, alive and together. Maybe I have low expectations. *g*
