Sunny, warm and humid. Dog wanted out at about midnight and there was a gecko on the sliding screen deck door. Housely things to do today.

Need to simply stop reading HHoW. Will work on that.

It's sunny and lovely here today. We have brown-headed cowbirds at the bird feeder. They have an unexpectedly lovely song, a sort of melancholy low whistle.

Y'know, I've said in the past I was going to stop reading, but I'm going to try and stick to it this time. :-)

We get cowbirds sometimes! They do have a pretty song -- I think they're akin to mockingbirds in that regard. So far all I've seen today are mourning doves and cardinals.

Ah, that thread -- and a couple of those particular people -- are reasons why I skip over threads when I see one of their names as the last poster.

It's amazing that when you skip over the batshit whining & the outright fawning adoration posts, it takes very little time to read anything.

And the spoiler thread, because 1) I don't really want to know, and 2) talk about batshit.

I love spoilers, so for a while there the only thread I was reading was the spoilers (not the spoiler speculation thread, because yeah, batshit). I'll probably go back to doing just that, although I think there's actually more spoiler info on LJ these days.

And yeah, while I'm a fan of a lot HL has done and is doing, I've never been big on the whole loving every project he's ever done thing. For anyone. (I'm not going to watch Stuart Little II, and you can't make me.)

Except for my painting sketch and gown samples, I'm done being productive today.
It's so dry-hot today that I'm dragging my behind, now. At least I can make art in a seated position.

Maybe my standards for HHoW are incredibly low but I am actually surprised the backlash against RSL has not been worse. And my decision to stay away and not even lurk over there was a wise one.

But if that article is true, then it truly sucks. Because I just got my summer workshop schedule and there is no way I can make it to NY before the last week of June :(

Oh, there was an earlier backlash, but it had died down. Until this person put it out there again, out of nowhere.

The article ... theatre is a tough business, so I can't say I'd be surprised if the show closed early. I thought I'd also read somewhere that they were thinking about extending the run, so maybe what will happen in the end is that they'll just do the regular run and end there. According to this chart it looks like they're at least still in the black.

I only read the fanfic rec and fic discussion threads. Those don't get wanky and I thus don't have problems.

You couldn't pay me to read the spoiler spec thread, or most of the others. The adoration/hate/tinhat stuff just ... it affects my emotional state in ways I dislike.

Yeah, I'll probably still read the rec and the discussion threads, but I'm pretty much done with everything else. Menopause does enough of a sandbag job on my emotions; I don't need the fandom craziness to add to it.
