Really enjoyed the sidestory with Taub and his wife. Rachel Taub FTW.

The medical story was pretty good, although I'm still not sure if and how the wife hid her three miscarriages from her husband.

Didn't care about the rest of it. I don't dislike Thirteen, but I've just never been that interested in her, and tonight didn't change that. Also I could see the ending coming from a mile off. Two miles. Hell, a friggin' infinity of miles, and that irritated me. On the other hand, I've been in an irritable, crabby mood all day, so that might have had something to do with it.

... nah, it irritated me.

Not an episode I would watch again.

(sigh) I was hoping someone would say that Thirteen has gotten more interesting. Sure Olivia Wilde is very pretty and I hear she's a very nice person, but to me she always sucks energy out of every scene she's in - it's the opposite of charisma. I don't care how tragic they make Thirteen, I've never found her to be anything other than dull.
And they really spoiled the ending in their media promos.

I actually like the Thirteen from S4 quite a lot - she seemed very strong, able to take care of herself, stand up to House, etc. It was after she diagnosed herself with HD that she got all self-destructive and dull and UGH FORETEEN.

And they really spoiled the ending in their media promos.
They really, really did.

Thinking back on it, I felt more emotion coming off Hugh Laurie with his non-reaction/attempt to process response to Thirteen's tragic story, than I felt coming off her. And it's bizarre, because her acting seems fine. I simply can't connect with her and I don't know why not. I can recognize what appear to be very real emotions in her, but I can't feel it with her.

And I can feel things with Cuddy, and even with Martha (although what I feel with her mostly makes me cringe), so I don't think it's internalized misogyny (and I did question myself on that).

Hugh Laurie rocked it as usual.

(nods) That's it exactly.
I forgot to add that we've got yet another example of new mother / new baby angst this episode, they're really racking it up this season.

For me hating the promo after last episode I found myself about a week later really looking forward to it.
I did miss 13, way more than I would have thought. I like Olivia Wilde; I don't think she's a great actress, but she is definitely getting better. Well either that or I just don't hold her to a high standard. Either way, I'm glad she's back.
The ending was obvious to me and her reason for being in prison was not a surprise, but I found I quite enjoyed the episode.

I'd rather have Thirteen than Masters, I think (although I think Tamblyn's the better actor, I can't stand the character she plays), but I prefer Thirteen as an interesting side dish, not as the main course. When they move her front and center it just doesn't hold up for me.

Same. I can't stand MM. Though I haven't disliked her so much these past two episodes.
A friend and I were just taking about 13 as the main course, it's not that I ever hated 13, but I was really mad at the show when it seemed like she was taking over as title character. It just seemed like there was a time when it was the 13 show and I resented her for that.

Did anyone notice whether House was taking pills in this week's episode? I didn't see any, but then ... I wasn't glued to the screen all that hard, either.

Didn't notice any pills either, but I was also posting my latest entry somewhere around that time, I think.

*needing a House icon*

So, I finally managed to watch an episode again after several months not seeing it. I saw just enough of MM to know she must go away. Bleh! I'd rather have 13 even though her acting seems to lack genuine conviction for me. She really doesn't convince me of anything her character is supposed to be experiencing. Taub has always seriously annoyed me and his wife as well. Not exactly sure why. I loved it when Foreman said, "If I own it, don't do 'it' on it.". His dead pan manner makes me laugh. Chase is as pretty as ever. House of course was the bomb, as always. He played his reaction to 13's confession really well. Somehow, I knew he'd get round to offering to kill her when the time came. I'm sure you all did. Lol.

Mostly, I'm reveling in the fact that I am able to recall that much about the ep considering that I was playing on my iPhone and watched two shows after watching House. Ladies, the meds I'm on seem to be working! =•]

I'm still not sure if and how the wife hid her three miscarriages from her husband.

If a miscarriage occurs very early on, it often presents as a very heavy, very painful period. After the first miscarriage, you tend not to want to say anything to anyone until you're well past the high-risk period (6-8 weeks).

... yeah. Happened to someone I know very well. So I never questioned it on the show.
