Cold and grey, slight possibility of a little sleet and/or frozen rain. 30 degrees (-1.1 degrees Celsius), with a gusty wind out of the north. Have brought plants back inside (Chango helped by racing back and forth in the backyard with a ball).

Started reading Colossus last night -- so far it is very good, although I did have a "Dear Author" moment when Hiltzik talked about Spanish explorers (Francisco Coronado's men) seeing the Grand Canyon, and then mentioning about twenty pages later that Joseph Christmas Ives would be "the white man who finally located the Grand Canyon." Er. I think he means that Ives was the first to find the canyon's downstream entrance, but, er.

... and now the sun is trying to come out. Hm.

COME ON SUNSHINE YOU CAN DO IT

It's very cold and clear and sunny here. I've got a couple hours to finish this review, and then I'm headed to a meeting late in the afternoon. NEED MOAR TEA.

Ugh, coughing some and feeling headachy and blah.

Hope it's a mild thing that goes away fast.

Beautiful day here. Too much crap to do. The usual. I think the mild illness is making me uncharacteristically crabby, though.

I'm sure he loves you too, dear.

Just got an email from the print place (um, Walgreens). My prints for the designer are ready to pick up. I guess I'd better get going.

Cool and overcast, with no sun but lots of diffuse light.

Having gone through a job interview this morning, I'm not motivated to do much more than lounge around in my socks. But I'll see if I can push myself to head to the library.

That's AWESOME. Industrial-strength humidifiers are always good to have around, and using the old books like that is genius.

We're back from dinner out, and Zippy Cat is sitting on my desk while purring and butting his head against my shoulder. That's actually a sign of great affection from a cat. :)

Rocket also sits on our feet. I think it's a herding dog thing. :)

I bought a big pack of chicken drumsticks today to make fried chicken tomorrow night. It's a huge treat around here because I don't like to stink up the house frying things.

Ooh, that sounds yummy! I do good old Southern-fried chicken: soak the chicken in a bowl of milk and then roll the pieces in flour seasoned with salt and pepper, except that I usually add some paprika for color and that wonderful smoky flavor, and then pan fry it. The deliciousness almost makes up for the house smelling of cooking oil for four or five days. :)

I bought a box of panko this week to try out a new recipe for black bean burgers. May make those this weekend if we get snow again. The guys won't eat them, but I can wrap and freeze them for my lunches.
