Yay, I'm back. *g* Wedding was lovely -- it was outdoors, in a park, so there was the real possibility that everyone would freeze to death, but the weather cooperated (it was in Kansas City, Missouri) and everything went off without a hitch. Plus there were bagpipers (which, WTF, family?). I'd never been to KC, and had no idea it was so pretty. We did the Road Trip thing, so we saw lots of beautiful trees changing color (and miles of endless prairie in Kansas) -- on the wildlife side we saw a couple of coyotes, and I lost count of how many hawks. We also saw a bald eagle (in Kansas), which was like a Big Special Treat. That and the truck with the "Jesus Loves You" mudflaps. Heh.
Sunny and windy here, 67 degrees (19.4 Celsius). Lots of stuff to do today, including picking up the dog -- she was due for annual shots, so we boarded her at the vet's. I'm sure she thinks she's been OMG ABANDONED. :-D
ETA that in the meantime, I am laughing out loud (for real) at this wonderful Onion article -- nation waist-deep in soybeans after $30 trillion farm subsidy bill accidentally passed. Hee.

Date: 2010-11-08 05:38 pm (UTC)It's good to hear that you had a pleasant trip! I should be working, I really should, but I'm feeling dejected instead. A work colleague is helping to rehome a nice young Dutch shepherd, and I had to say "no" for reasons of fiscal responsibility. I know I should be grateful I can support my existing dog in the best manner possibly, but I regret passing on this little fellow (he's small for a Dutchie, only 21 kg). He's a super dog, social, biddable, healthy, etc. It's just not the right time financially. :( (And yes, I'm aware I'm being a selfish idiot. My coworker is evil and brought the dog in for me to see without asking first. Evil, evil, evil. Very hard to say no, though I suppose I should be flattered to be considered such a good prospective home.)

Date: 2010-11-08 06:30 pm (UTC)Got you now.
Although I still don't think you're an idiot, because you just aren't. :-)

Date: 2010-11-08 07:11 pm (UTC)Meanwhile, cleaning up my email inbox a little, emailing a couple people I needed to email, trying my best to be productive while I wait on someone at Adobe to talk to me.
And since the garage isn't calling back, I may have to attempt the drive over there whether I like it or not: I'm supposed to WORK tomorrow. Transportation would be very helpful in that regard.

Date: 2010-11-08 08:14 pm (UTC)Iffy news: going to have to call work and let them know about truck troubles, since at this point I don't know if it will be fixed by morning.

Date: 2010-11-08 08:50 pm (UTC)Just as well that the garage hasn't called back, since I can't interrupt this w/out having to start all over. Am typing on iPad now, btw, since desktop machine is under control of tech support at present.
ETA YES IT IS WORKING THIS TIME. At least I will have accomplished this one thing today.
And eta again that it has taken over two hours on the phone to do this, and that as a result I have not had lunch or called the auto shop again or tried driving over there. Fail, Adobe. Fail.

Date: 2010-11-08 07:28 pm (UTC)Yesterday was a bad night, but I went out grocery shopping and should keep feeling better if I stay lying low.

Date: 2010-11-08 08:00 pm (UTC)I'm back from errands and have given Ollie his supplemental "feed this scrawny little kitty up" plate of wet cat food. He rarely mews, but I got two excited little peeps in a row when he saw The Good Stuff being spooned onto his dish.

Date: 2010-11-08 08:33 pm (UTC)We just got back from picking up Chango and she's lying down between my feet and Mr. N's. *g* Boarding, nail-clipping, annual shots, bath, etc., all added up to a hefty bill. Gah.

Date: 2010-11-08 09:12 pm (UTC)We were very surprised to see the bald eagle. It was the first one I've seen in the U.S. -- all the others have been in Canada. :-D

Date: 2010-11-09 02:21 am (UTC)Did you see Sherlock?

Date: 2010-11-09 05:17 pm (UTC)Yep, I got to see Sherlock. I wish I'd seen it when I was less tired, because I found the multiple story threads a little confusing to follow (it didn't help that PBS cut some of the content, grrr). But it was still good, especially the swimming-pool scene at the end.
