Mostly sunny and warm -- 87 degrees (30.6 Celsius), with a 60% chance of rain tomorrow, coming up from the south from Tropical Storm Hermine. Let the dog out last night around midnight and there was a ghost-pale gecko on the screen door.

More housekeeping in order, in real life and online. In the meantime, here's a story from the Guardian on the first night of the Blitz, seventy years ago tomorrow. The description of the pepper, tea, and sugar fires on the docks is particularly interesting. From the article: "A grain warehouse … brings forth banks of black flies, rats in hundreds and the residue of burnt wheat, a sticky mess that pulls your boots off."

So. Onwards. :-)

Hi, Nightdog!

The mister and I just got back from seeing "The American," which is a terrific movie if you like very European movies, which we do. Not sure the other folks in the audience knew what to think about it, though.

Not looking forward to getting back to the grind tomorrow, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. :D

The last thing I saw him in was Syriana. In mood, this is a lot like that one.

Yum, strawberry jam!

Hello! I got to work at 7 am and put in a 9 hour day, half of which was spent on the mine site in the mud and CONSTANT RAIN, and ended with an emergency trip to Rona when my co-worker broke the toilet.
I saw 'Up In The Air' last month. I hadn't seen George Clooney in anything since ER and I was pleasantly surprised to see he's developed into a very good actor.
