Sunny and warm -- 89 degrees (31.7 Celsius). Watched the last 30 or so minutes of the England/Germany World Cup game ... ouch. The columnist covering the action for The Guardian had a pretty funny observation at the beginning of the game:

The anthems are played. First Germany's. Then a song about God saving the head of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. That's not fair! Germany have had two. Don't England get a turn? The red-clad English players take it well, though, shaking hands along the line with their counterparts in white shirts and black shorts. The wait is over. We're about to get going ...

Heh. Laundry, other stuff today.

*g*

The current British royal family is descended from German royalty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Saxe-Coburg_and_Gotha). The anthem is a bit of a stretch, but it's still funny.

Heee. The rest of his commentary during the game was pretty funny, too, lots of sarcasm. Or rather gallows humour. Otherwise: *points to icon*

The live coverage from The Telegraph and The Guardian is a lot of fun to follow -- it can be an eye-opening experience after the American broadcasters. Although I have to admit the ESPN team has been really good -- they've got Alexei Lalas and Jurgen Klinsmann in the studio, and neither of them is afraid to pull their punches and come right out and say when a national team isn't playing very well (including the US).

Don't you just love British wit? :D

It's hot and sunny here today. Poor Corgiguy has been out repairing overhead lights in the garage in this heat. I went to church with the Presbyterians this morning and been puttering and occasionally going outside to hold light bulbs and pliers for CG while he's up on the ladder.

Heh, it really sounded like a line out of a Monty Python sketch, or even Fry and Laurie. *g*

I was out refilling the spare feeder and oh my God it's STEAMING outside. It is so enervating, even after just a short time. Bleh!

HI Nightdog Hi!

I'm thinking about redoing my LJ. Although probably not my DW, as I really really like my layout there. But I've got some new friends-only banners, and I'd kind of like to use one? Maybe. I might not want to put the time into it.

I should also shower, while Z is napping. Hm. THESE ARE DIFFICULT DECISIONS, YO.

YOUR LJ DESIGN IS SET IN STONE AND CANNOT BE CHANGED. Hurr.

We need to start laundry. But we have not. *g*

I need to do laundry, too! And I am sitting. :)

You mean I can't change it? You like it that much?

[livejournal.com profile] roxicons had a gorgeous blue-themed post last week, and I saved a lot of the icons (there's also an icon of that lovely blue daisy, should you like to snag!). I'd recommend a visit!

:)

*preens*

Everybody else seems to be doing it, so I guess I got the bug, too.

Ah, yes, that's where I saw that blue flower! Yep, it's a really beautiful post but I haven't taken any of the icons (yet).
