The sound of bandsaws in the morning is just so pleasant. It makes Chango squinch her ears close to her head. Cloudy, still very damp, 66 degrees (18.8 Celsius).

Not sure yet what is on the agenda for today, but,

Here are some of the places I've been:

visited 28 states (56%)

But wait, there's more!

If anyone wants to see the other international countries I've visited (I don't know why you would, but anyway), there's a map on my profile page.

Hello! I should clean my car today, maybe go for a walk if I'm really ambitious.
Your map of Canada looks like mine, and I LIVE here. How sad is that?
My cats are ripping and tearing around the house right now. It's better than bandsaws, but I'd take bandsaws over the sound I usually hear at night now - my neighbours playing guitar, badly, and singing, even more badly.
Last night I dreamt that I somehow found the House season finale online and watched it. All I really remember is that House and Foreman were swimming in the ocean at night and encountered an octopus. I really do need to get out more.

Heh, I'm finding it kind of funny that I've not been to Manitoba or Saskatchewan -- they stick out there in the middle.

That sounds like a GREAT finale! And I'd say it's just as possible as anything else they've come up with. *g*

I think there's a fic hiding in there somewhere...

If you want sad, I live here too and have only visited Ontario and Alberta. Unless a one-hour stopover once in Winterpeg counts. :-P

I didn't count airports in mine either.
'House' has used The Rolling Stone's song "You Can't Always Get What You Want" at significant moments before, but for this season finale they should use "Like A Rolling Stone". "How does it feel, to be on your own, with no direction home, a complete unknown, just like a rolling stone..." Except not with Bob Dylan singing it. He can't sing at all.

Really, you just need Pennsylvania, New York, and like Utah to complete a full continuous strip. I think this calls for a road trip...

I'm sure I've flown over Utah ... maybe that counts somehow? And heh, it looks as if I hate almost the entire Eastern Seaboard.

I'm on my way out the door, somewhat grudgingly. All the stuff I'm doing today, Do Not Want, but once I'm there I'm sure my attitude will change. It always does.

I hope the band saws quiet down. They make me scrunch my ears too.

I have no idea what our neighbors are doing (remodeling the kitchen? bathroom? everything?) but it sure is taking a long time.

:-P

Hello! I don't blame Chango one bit for scrinching up her ears.

Corgiguy and I went out test-driving cars today. The repairs required to keep the free Toyota we got from his brother on the road are now regularly surpassing the trade-in value of the car (this happens when you get a hand-me-down from an alcoholic who was not too detail-orientated), so we're biting the bullet and getting him something new. I mostly went along to give critiques of the interiors and sound systems, armed with my trusty MP3 player loaded with the Doobie Brothers and Tears for Fears. :D

I wanted to be with you alone
and talk about the weather ...

We love Tears for Fears. *g*

I have just now been pulling up some carpet and have taken out one of the (soaking wet) pad sections. I was childishly delighted with myself for remembering we still had some old puppy housebreaking pads in the closet, so I took those out and put some down to soak up the water. Ew and yuck.

"Shout" is on my exercise-rock playlist. It and the Doobie's "China Grove" are excellent for testing out auto sound systems. :D

That's very clever about the puppy pads. We had a similar problem at our old house with water from the carport flooding part of the living room. The kid was wee then, and we took a bag of disposable diapers and put them opened all over the floor and walked on them to soak up the water. It looked weird, but it worked great.

After several hours of some serious number-crunching and reality checks, we have come to the conclusion that the kind of car Corgiguy wants is just too expensive. Since we both have old cars, the new plan is to replace mine with a Honda Fit, which he'll drive to work on the days when I don't. We'll keep the Toyota, which has almost no trade-in value but is insanely cheap to insure, and sharing the new car will take some of the wear and tear off the old one.

What's funny is that Chango wouldn't use the pads when she was a puppy, so we tossed them into the utility closet and forgot about them. Hee.

I've seen some Honda Fits around here -- they're cool-looking cars. I've been really happy with my Honda CR-V, and Mr. N drives an Accord.

The Fit was amazing fun to drive, very zippy yet comfortable, and the cargo space is great. I told Corgiguy it was like driving around in a highly versatile handbag, only with an awesome stereo. :D

It was the only car I test drove, which was mainly done as a lark, but it turned out to be a much better car than the Civic he drove. He was interested in a VW diesel Jetta (miles too expensive, but a great car) and a very fancy Hundai Sonata. But the Hunai was so large that my chin came up to the bottom of the window, so there's no way I could have ever safely driven it.
