Cloudy and a bit cooler -- 68 degrees (20 Celsius), with rain forecast for tomorrow. Mr. N got up at 3:30 this morning to catch the first flight to Chicago, so things are a little ... out of synch right now.

Wren Update: On the nest, can't see the eggs.

Also, apparently my brain (what there is of it) is absolutely determined not to let me read Unaccustomed Earth, so I've picked up another Stan Jones mystery for the moment (Frozen Sun).

Poem coming up.

HI NIGHTDOG HI!

I am at the office, doing my thing, trying to get stuff done and crossing things off the paper list on my desk. Am hoping to perhaps close my door this afternoon and get manuscript-writing done.

Also? I am currently headdesking over the following comment from a student's exam:

"There's not a lot to read in National Geographic, but more to read in Shape and Muscle & Fitness."

...um, what?

(Edited because it's just as headdesk-worthy without the exposition, isn't it?)

LOL! You know, there used to be a joke about teenage boys reading National Geographic in order to look at the pictures of NEKKID TRIBAL WIMMIN.

... not a lot to read in National Geographic ...

Hee. I am shaking my head.

I was kind of like, DUDE! Have you even read a Nat Geo lately?

Anyway. Now I'm eating shrimp fried rice (homemade!) and pushing to finish the exams, so I can write this afternoon.

I would say the answer is clearly ... no.

Mmmm ... shrimp fried rice!

Your "not a lot to read" kid is getting National Geographic confused with Ranger Rick.

Also, hi! I went to site, finished the last two big honking baluster posts, finished one side of a door I'd begun a couple days ago, finished some baseboards in the sunroom (against my better judgment; too much dust still flying in the vicinity, but not today and likely not tomorrow, so I'm hoping it'll be all right) -- and found myself unable to safely do much more. The other stuff that needs done isn't ready or in a couple cases even reachable right now. I could go into the hallway (coming in from the garage) but the likelihood of my work getting damaged, what with all the contractors, dust, and tools in and out ... pretty high. We'd agreed that would be the last area I did, for that reason.

So I left Mark a message and asked him to call me when the next things were ready for me. I think I've got 3 or 4 more days there, total.

And today I get a short breather before I have to go teach class, and I am happy about that.

Hi Hello!

Yay, for a breather!! You deserve one, sweets. I myself just finished a rambly post, and realized I was really just procrastinating, so back to the grind it is for me.

I ordered a copy of Black Swan Green after your post about the writer. :)

Today's a comp time day for me, so I saw the boy off to school and went back to bed for a shamefully slothful three and half hours.

Yay! I hope you like it -- Mitchell is just an astounding writer. Ghostwritten and Cloud Atlas are also tremendously good.

I went back to sleep (sort of) after Mr. N left. It wasn't a very deep sleep, though, but I'm feeling okay. *g*
