Ugh and blah, not nearly enough sleep last night.

Wren Update: Not on the nest, five eggs clearly visible. I dunno, guys, maybe wrens just aren't the most attentive of avian mothers. Whatever, I refuse to worry about it.
ETA that it's about 20 minutes later and she's on the nest. Saw a wren on the deck, guessed it might be her, and it was. :-)

Mostly cloudy and very humid, although it's not supposed to rain. 64 degrees (17.7 Celsius). More later, probably. Bluh.

Greetings! I went into work today, planning to go to the mine site to check the weirs and take snow measurements, but we had to call it off. The roads aren't cleared yet so we can't get access. The snow plows have been working overtime but haven't caught up yet. We'll go tomorrow.

Hi Nightdog hello!

It's a beautiful sunny day here, and we all spent some time outside before lunch--the Mr even started to get out all our summertime outside toys and such. We'll go back out after Z's nap; it sounds like she's just about asleep.

I've got stacks of grading to tackle today, so I'm probably going to put up some progress bars soonish...

HI Perspi!

The sun is trying to come out here but we I haven't been motivated to do much of anything yet. And LJ is being just slow enough to be annoying. GRRR!

GRRR indeed!

Here I am over half-done with my coffee already, and I haven't yet begun grading! Instead I have added some icons to my DW (and filled my last LJ icon slot!), and I'm just now starting to think about grading. Except I want to post, first. :)

I just got up from a nap. *sheepish* But it is hard being awake all day! I am hoping I can get some research notes taken for my term paper this evening. That would be nice. :D

I totally napped, too--it's almost a regular thing for me on the weekend, after I put Z down for her nap, to sneak into our bedroom and either lie down on the bed or sit in my glider chair. Ostensibly I am 'monitoring' to make sure Z goes to sleep, but I settle in to sleep for a half-hour or 45 minutes, too. :)

Maybe wrens are able to sense when the nest is too warm and go take a break?

It's a gorgeous day today and we have the porch door open. Corgiguy planted some stuff in the big ornamental pots in the yard and we went to Home Depot to look at small push mowers.

Yep, I think that's it -- wrens must have super-sensitive thermal sensing, and know when to let the eggs cool off a bit, because it seems like it's just every now and then that she's gone.

We've got doors and windows open, but it's still cloudy and very humid. Not bad, though. We have a small push mower! You mean the motor-less kind? It is fantastic exercise. Or it would be if I used it. *g*

Our yard is so uneven and hilly that a reel mower wouldn't work on it. We were looking for a small electric mower we could use to trim along the fences and get in the corners where the power mower can't go. What with the hills, it'll still be good exercise. :) We used to do all that trimming with the weed whacker, but it's murder on middle-aged hands and elbows. My arm hurts for a week after using the thing.
