Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] srsly_yes, 14 questions about writing.

1. What is your favorite fic?
I have lots of favorite fics, but Welcome to Wherever You Are is right up there. Annals IV and 44 Candles are also a couple of favorites because there's a lot of "me" invested in both.

2. Which is your best-received fic?
That's a tricky question. Maybe The Annals, I-IV? Readers seemed to really like the Roman-era AU setting. Or maybe it was the master/slave dynamic ... maybe.

3. Which is your worst-received fic?
Another tricky question, because fics can have very different receptions on different comms. Carry Me Home did well at one comm but sank without a trace at the other. That was disappointing, but it's just the breaks sometimes. I know The War Against the Gabes turned some folks off.

4. Which is your angstiest fic?
Oh, gosh. All of them? Cold Call is pretty angsty, and it's got a nice little hook. Or maybe The Better Angel or These Days.

5. Which is your funniest fic?
I don't think I do funny very well. There are individual funny lines and funny situations in some of my fics, but as for funniest fic ... maybe Horsefeathers. Or What's Up, Doc?

6. Smuttiest?
Yeah, I don't think I do smutty very well either. What's Up, Doc? is smutty fun. Just about everything else is argh!violent smut.

7. Fluffiest?
2 Tbsp Elephants, although people tell me it's not fluffy, so I don't know. *g*

8. Have you ever made someone cry with a fic?
Yes. Slipcovers really upset quite a few people.

9. Which fic frustrates you the most?
I think I find WIPs way more frustrating than fics I've already written. What I do find frustrating in completed fics is realizing that I've brought the action to a screeching halt by having a character suddenly sober up and give a speech. This happened in Past Present Imperfect and Nor Any Voice of Mourning, and both times it was House doing the speech-making. Which is kind of interesting, because on the show it's usually Wilson doing the lecturing. Heh.

10. Which fic was the most fun to write?
Welcome to Wherever You Are, Roll the Bones, and Take a Walk on the Wild Side.

11. Who is your favorite OC ever created?
Mandy and Scott from Take a Walk on the Wild Side. But I have much love for all of them, even the Very Bad Men I sometimes create.

12. Are you better at one shot or multiparts?
I don't know that I'm particularly better at either one.

13. Which character do you think you're the best at portraying?
I hope Wilson, but I think I've done an okay House a few times. Otherwise I'd say OCs. Writing OCs and putting them into fics where they have to deal with House and/or Wilson is like Super Happy Funtimes for me.

14. Which character is the most difficult to portray?
Anyone other than House or Wilson who's not an OC. I've written the other characters -- three of them (Foreman, Cuddy, and Thirteen) got their own fics. But I'm not as comfortable with their voices, so when they want a story it makes me very nervous that I'll get it wrong.

I'm alone in the house, so this got a full-on verbal "YAY" from me when I saw you posted it. I'm going to spend the night rereading some of these. :)

I remember being starstruck the first time you responded to one of my comments. I was like "OMG it's THE Nightdog, of "Welcome to Wherever You Are" awesomeness!"

Thanks for the peek inside your writerly mind. Now if only we can convince Mare, Perspi, Corgigirl, and Topaz to do the same...mwahaha

For "funniest" she forgot A Leg to Stand On and Allowable Losses, both of which are hilarious.

ETA that verb, you're not alone. nightdog was the first person to ever comment on the first house-fic i wrote, over at the pit. the comment was encouraging and intelligent, so i went looking at her stuff and could have fainted.

I'd love to see this!

"I think I've done an okay House a few times."

understatement, much?

i confess i'm surprised at mandy & scott being your favorite-ever OCs; i'd thought that honor would go either to martin or to bennie & trevor. :-) me, i can't pick just one.

:-D

I adore Mandy and Scott. Just love them. I started to say in the meme that I also loved Quill Leavenworth, Bennie Kafka and Trevor Nottingham, Martin, Ben Wilson, Sonia Lindstrom (Wilson's first wife in Party Line), drug-dealer Dave in Cash & Carry ... I love just about all of my OCs, but I really love the voices of Mandy and Scott.

*glomps you*
nd...this won't be very specifically helpful, but I've enjoyed everything of yours I have managed to read so far.

Since I barely recall what I read from day to day, don't take it personally. I blame the vertigo cuz that's why that is. Forgive me if I don't wade through reading all these posted fics. It would take me wayyyy too long to be able to comment, but I enjoy your fics and still maintain that you start writing your own books. hee

And I second that Mare, Perspi, Corgigirl, Verb and Topaz do one of these posts as well.

You all 'seem' to know what was written and even manage to know where to find particular fics and post links to them, as nightdog has done here.

It blows me away and makes me feel very much out of sorts: not that it's any of your faults...I'm just messed up for the time being. LOL

*laughs*

okay, how that works? is that we have fic indexes, and when we write something, we (eventually) add it to the index, with a link. So that way we can find stuff when we need to. Every time I look at my list of stories, I realize how many I have pretty much forgotten about. And I haven't written half as much as most of my friends have.

Okay-you made me feel better, mostly. Now if you could just get at that last little screw and tweak it a little the veritigo might go away, too. hee

Wonderful list. Must check out your fluffy/smutty stories.

I remember finding The Annals soon after discovering House fanfiction. What a treat it was to read--I never wanted it to end. Carry Me Home is probably my second favorite.

:-)

Then it might make you happy to know The Annals isn't technically over (although I'm sure it seems like it). I've been wringing Annals V out of my very stubborn brain for ... quite a while now, a paragraph at a time.

Heh, I don't remember the "House speech" in Nor Any Voice of Mourning. Which I like a lot. (I do remember my MASH flashbacks while reading it, though. *g*)

"Readers seemed to really like the Roman-era AU setting. Or maybe it was the master/slave dynamic ..."
For me it's both and then some. I think it's special because there's a big development in their (unorthodox) relationship which is just fascinating to watch. (Or read. Again and again.) A lot of your other fics rather examine one point, one change, one facet of the relationship, but in this one there is a lot going on from the initial curiosity to their closeness in Annals IV.

As for fluff, The Brining Method is still on my mind, but I hadn't read 2 Tbsp Elephants until now and I love it. It shows a side of House that's rather rare but perfectly IC. Which makes it one of your "okay House" pieces I guess. ;-)

It's when House answers Wilson's question about what he thinks will happen after the war.
