Cloudy and very damp, about 66 degrees. Refilled the large bird feeder and re-hung it in a different spot. Hopefully this will keep the squirrels away for ... a couple of hours days.

Not much else at the moment.

Hi!

I napped and had really odd dreams, one of which involved a couple of dogs the approximate size of ... I'm trying to think of a similar object ... an old-fashioned film container, perhaps? That was about the length and thickness of their tiny, tiny little furry bodies. I could hold both dogs in one hand and feel them wriggling and moving their itty little feet. And then their owner put their leashes on and we took them outside, because they were desperate and beginning to pee on the furniture, and yeah, walking something the size of a small mouse or a shrew is pretty weird.

And then there was a dream in which I was finding big ripe tomatoes, and chives, and wild chamomile, along the side of a road, as it rose up to become a bridge. And I was sharing tomatoes with someone else, who kept asking if they could take them and I kept saying, "It's not my plant to begin with, so take whatever you like!"

I think I'd better go make lunch and some mildly caffeinated coffee.

Sometime in the future I'm sure someone will engineer the little darlings, which will be dumb as pet rocks and become a pervasive fad because of some vapid celeb who owns seventeen of them.

But in my dream they were adorable, if somewhat pointless.

We're having about the same weather today.

I hid my car behind the hedge in the back parking lot at the church, kept the lights in the front of the building off and the door locked until the Padre showed up at 11 a.m., and got a heck of a lot of work done without any drop-ins from crazy people. It was very peaceful. :)

Sort of like tribbles, except smaller.

HI NIGHTDOG HELLO!

I am FINISHED with class for the day, and have an hour yet before I need to leave, so I'm going to try to get some Things Done. :)

But I must drive by and wave. *waves*

This sounds like a viable solution! Hooray!

HI MARE! With the weird dreams and all! I'm glad you've had a naplet and I hope that you're now having a good afternoon. :)

Me, I'm done with classes and have a full hour of nothing-scheduled in which to Cross Things Off My List. (We won't discuss how I don't really want to.)

ARGH I KNOW. I mean about the list-crossing-off.

I just cleaned out the cab of my truck, which was on yesterday's list. So I feel a little better about that.

Now I need to mail some things but I have no idea if the Post Office will have the envelopes/boxes I need for that.

I won three vids from very talented people in the [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti auction, but making the donations to the charities is proving difficult because my credit card is flagged in such a way that I need to call the bank and reassure them I'm indeed the one who made the donation.

This is compounded by the fact that explaining fandom to my mother is something of a lost cause.

How cool to win 3 vids!

NIGHTDOG HI. I am very happy to see you, for I have had a rather iffy kind of day and you are one of those people who makes me feel better just by being around.

I mean, I'm glad I went to that meeting this morning. It's always a good move, business-wise. But something about the getting-up-at-5:30 thing screws with my mental chemistry and I'm not right for the rest of the day.

And I get to lather-rinse-repeat tomorrow. I hope it will go a little better. Meanwhile I am sending some "nice to have met you" emails to some of the people it was nice to meet this morning.

Anything past the OED's definition - "The world of enthusiasts for some amusement or some artist; also in extended use" - falls apart. I like to shorten it to "the world of enthusiasts" because fandom wouldn't exist without people who were enthusiastic making their own world. But beyond that, because fandom is such a weird thing, it's very hard to find the precise words.

I'm around. Been watching the Shiba Inu puppy cam (http://www.ustream.tv/SFShiba).

And getting up that early has the same effect on me. Erk.

"The world of enthusiasts" is pretty accurate, sure.

But that's something like defining "horse" as "a large grazing animal having four legs."

The definition is correct, but doesn't say a thing about the psychology of the beast, which is far more intricate, complex, and potentially problematic for the person who chooses to interact with the animal.

Pretty much that analogy, yeah. Like I said, you try to get any more complicated than that and it falls apart.

I'm relieved to know it isn't just me, with this thing. The alarm rings at 5:30 and I pretty much wake up depressed and have to fight it the rest of the day. And I just don't feel right and can't focus well, even after I have napped.

This Thursday will be the last one I have to get up that early for a while, though, since starting next Thursday I've got a morning class at BAC and can't sub for the usual BNI chapter for that six week session.

Sounds like the sort of weather we're having here, although I can't translate 66 degrees. Is that cold? It's pretty brisk here.

The NOAA converter says that our 66 is your 18.8 (with a bunch more 8s following). So I'd say 66 is ... on the edge of warm.

Hee! Okay, I'd call that "pretty warm," myself. In fact, I'd call that "a good portion of late spring/early summer." Here it is definitely colder than that, hovering around zero, or, uh...32?...which is still way warmer than I'm used to seeing during the winter.
