Sunny and very nice out -- 71 degrees with a light breeze that's sending leaves swirling down every now and then. Will be doing housely things today, I think.

So. News of the odd: Protestors picket play depicting Jesus as a transsexual. It's in Scotland, and the play is called Jesus, Queen of Heaven. Regardless of how one feels about the play itself, I think it's terribly sad that at least one person was holding up a sign saying "God: My Son Is Not A Pervert." Because of course all transsexuals are OMG PERVS. Ugh.

And news of the happy: Amateur treasure hunter finds fortune. Also in Scotland. He tried out his new metal detector in the kitchen, detecting knives and forks (hee), then took it out and found a set of pre-Roman golden torcs (necklaces), worth millions. Good for him. *g*

The low 40s, overcast, with strong potential for rain. I'll be packing my umbrella.

Mostly school things today, much to my general disappointment, although in its favor I can do most of it from a single building.

I don't think it's supposed to rain here until next week sometime.

It's lovely and sunny here and I'm just kind of puttering away at work.

I wonder if the treasure hunter will have to split the proceeds with the landowner. Still, that's a pretty nice windfall for a couple of minutes work. :)

Heh--when I read the story I rather hoped the guy would split the proceeds with the landowner. Kind of a crappy turn, if he doesn't, you know?

Anyway. Having lunch now, myself. Haven't been all that productive this morning, but oh, well. :)

Heh -- puttering away is good. I've been writing just a bit, letting a plotbunny see where it will lead me.

I know that the guy who found the Staffordshire Hoard a month or so back split the proceeds with the landowner -- it may be a requirement in the UK. I hope it is!

The boy came in a little while ago to help me out by taking out the trash, vacuuming and folding some newsletters, which gave me a chance to sort through the heap of donated ink and toner cartridges for recycling. It was threatening to spill over and creep across the floor. :D

I thought I'd read that the landowner is supposed to be compensated in England. There was a huge court case here a few years ago when some treasurer hunters found a DeSoto-era conquistador's sword and were sued by the farmer whose land they'd found it on.

I apparently am thinking too much about work (which deals with the auto industry) because when you mentioned DeSoto, the first thing I thought was ... "The 1950s?"

Hehee! Nope, the original DeSoto. It's believed that he or his troops made it to north Georgia after making landfall in Florida. I personally think the car would be far cooler than a rusty piece of steel. :)
