Used the leftover roast beef to make enchiladas. Quiet day -- laundry and fic posting. Not much else.

I know some folks out there are fans of the writer Sherman Alexie -- here's a link to a short story that appeared in the August 10th & 17th issue of The New Yorker. It's about a man who thinks he's going deaf, cockroaches, healing blankets, and his dying father. It's an excellent, excellent read.

Dern, I wish I had seen that convo. Then I would've been cool AND stalkery.

SMALL WORLD THOUGH with lots of manipulative bitches.

And...well...technically, you admitted to being Wilson. In which case I have to ask if you want to do speed with me.

I've always been curious how I'd react to stuff like that, given my brain chemistry, but I've never actively sought out access to it.

Part of me hopes it'd be like Miles Vorkosigan's reaction to the in-universe truth serum fast-penta - he basically went manic and recited Richard III as a one-man play.

I've never actually done speed, or any other drugs other than our standard caffeine & alcohol.

People have actually said to me, in incredulous tones, "You're an artist and you've never smoked pot?"

Hithah started a joke with me, on her LJ, calling me Wilson; hence "once was enough."

In school I always hung out with people who'd done plenty of substances, but never felt the need to try it myself.

You're no Wilson! You're more of a Cuddy. You love your work and care about it passionately but you have a keen sense of networking and organizational structures, and can manage to coordinate all sorts of people to your projects. I'd say you're more of a House, but you're too well-linked for that.

The only drugs I like are the ones I can swallow - although I have very little luck with most pills getting the desired effect for whatever purpose they're supposed to serve. Although tonight I might dig into my stash and pull out a sedative in the hopes it'll work when I get into bed, and not leave me tossing and turning.

Trust me when I say there are a lot of good reasons I relate more to Wilson than anyone else on that show. None of them have to do with multiple marriages or infidelity, thankfully, but yeah.

I like pretty much everyone, which rules me out as a House type immediately. :-)

I'm willing to trust most any fan of the Doctor. And the "liking pretty much everyone" is a Wilson trait.

Pot never did very much for me ... although I think I only had one really good purchase, from a neighbor who distributed. But this was ... good lord, some twenty-five years ago, at least, and I haven't had any since.

Oh, dear. I should probably only talk about this kind of stuff under a locked post ...
