Partly cloudy, warm (86 degrees). Have been sneezing this morning, go me.

Dog wanted out in the middle of the night so got up and turned on the deck light. Saw something on our basil plant so stepped out onto the deck to investigate. You know, besides the spiny lizards and geckos here, we've also got anoles, which is a horrible name for a very cute little lizard. Well, the thing on the basil plant was a very small anole, maybe an inch and a half long. And it was asleep. On a basil leaf. So I said mmmm-kay and left it alone. I don't know, there are some things I find just amazingly wonderful and this was one of them. *g* I saw it again this morning (at least, I think it's the same one) awake and on one of our pineapple plants.

Later dreamed about two sets of extended families that were having this huge feud and shooting each other. Kevin Spacey (the actor) was there, as one of the brothers in one of the families.

So I think I need more coffee.

OK, sleeping baby anoles? CUUUUUTE.

The Hatfields and the McCoys, starring Kevin Spacey? WHACKED-OUT. BUT AWESOME. :)

More coffee is always good. I am...being only partly productive today. Going to work out this afternoon, since I had a meeting this morning and another one in a half-hour.

A little lizard asleep on a leaf? It was ADORABLE. It was like, this needs to be in a fairy tale or something.

And Kevin Spacey could totally do a movie like that. Hee.

Meetings, bleh. *g*

The meetings aren't bad, today--not like in two weeks, when we've got all the pre-semester crap. Today was a meeting with a colleague (Dr. House! I'm not kidding!) about something we were supposed to draft for a committee we're on, and the later meeting is with my senior thesis student--she's doing a project on swearing in college classrooms, which is really quite fascinating.

DR. HOUSE? Oh, how funny!

Hee, I remember how startled I was when I went to college to find that some of my teachers actually said things like shit and damn and hell, JUST LIKE REAL PEOPLE. Heh.

hi!
i've been out and back to the neurologist, the library and the grocery store/pharmacy already (it's only just noon, here). I have to have another MRI, of my neck and upper spine this time, to see what's causing the stupid hand twitches. also she's put me on a new med (anticonvulsant) and i'm getting electrical studies of my hands and arms. so much fun! at least this time i have valium for the MRI because i know it's going to freak me out.
other than that things are fine. i got some chinese movies and the pimsleur short course in Japanese out of the library.
and coffee sounds marvelous. mmm.

Hi sweetie!

I've never had an MRI, although Mr. N has (for his back). I think it might be interesting, although I've heard so many people say it can get terribly claustrophobic in the tube, and eeek!

Hee, we studied Japanese for a few months when we were living in Tokyo (the company paid for it). I remember a little of it, mostly individual words (names of things).

*waves feebly*

I've been laid up most of the day with a horrible headache, which has finally eased some under the triple onslaught of caffeine, chocolate and 8-hr. Tylenol.

Lizards are just too cute. We have a big blue-tailed skink that lives under our front steps, so we frequently see him sunning on the deck end of the porch.

Oh no! God, those kinds of headaches are just awful. Hopefully it will continue to ease off!

Alas, we have no blue-tailed skinks here. Just the anoles, geckos, and the spiny lizards, which look pretty damn prehistoric. *g*

As long as I don't bend over, it's staying at a tolerable roar. At one point earlier today, Corgiguy came upstairs and asked me to take some photos for him to post on eBay. I cracked one eye and said, "The kid takes great photos."

We have some kind of brown scaly lizard that lives in the woods, but I don't know what they're called. Skinks are fairly common here. They're neurotoxic to cats (eating one causes seizures) but I don't worry about Zip since he's an indoor cat.

I am very jealous of your lizards! That's one thing we don't really have here (we have a couple of species but they tend to live in unpopulated areas and you hardly ever see them).
