Warm, sunny, etc. As I've said before, this is pretty much the default until, say, late September. So if it does something apocalyptic, like rain, I'll report that. Otherwise, every morning it's sunny and warm and all the children are above average. Heh.

Still staying up too late, but slept better again last night. Had a couple of dreams -- in one Mr. N and myself were looking for something in an old, abandoned house, and in the other, myself, Dustin Hoffman, and a couple of other people were thieves, and we'd stolen this large cache of golden quarters and dimes. Yeah, I have no idea either.

Anyway. Onward.

Dustin Hoffman FTW! I remember watching an interview he did about The Graduate where he started crying because people always perceived it as a comedy...I still do. I love that weird hand thing he does when he talks, too, like he's painting fake mustaches on his interviewers.

I had a dream last night that somebody paid me to kill my principal, and I said yes. I'm always such a bad person in my dreams.

I'm locking down the house before I catch my flight (2:45...it's going to be a long day), making sure my BFF knows how to take care of Bailey, etc. Just wasting time, mostly. My folks are out of town so I have to drive myself to the airport and hug myself goodbye. I'm just kidding, I'm not sad about that whatsoever, hehe.

Oh, yes, The Graduate is an awesome film! I think he turned up here because I'd just recently seen him on a BBC talk show.

That is going to be a long day! I remember flying back and forth to Tokyo, but the U.S. to the Land of Oz is even worse. Take lots of books. And notebooks.

Bad Verb. Right up my alley. Heh.

At least I timed Tokyo flights. Two movies and a nap.

I'm rereading The Final Problem and The Return of Sherlock Holmes so I think I'm all set. :)

It probably comes from being so sweet and nice the rest of the time. :-) I wouldn't worry.

If you weren't leaving the country, you could come over here and kill my printer instead. Give it the full Office Space treatment with the DIE DIE DIE soundtrack and everything.

Also. It's always the nice, sweet, quiet people you have to watch out for. You never really know what they're thinking.

My sympathies about your printer, but not for your printer, seeing as you want to kill it. ("Saying 'I'm sorry' is the same as saying "I apologize.' Unless you're at a funeral." hehe)

AND, I shall now say "Ummm, I'mmm gonna go ahead and have you come in on Suuunnndaaay" all day.

Didn't you get the memo, Verb? You didn't put a cover page on your TPS report.

One set of my dreams involved the sudden re-freezing of Antarctica and a man trapped in a bunker on the moon; another involved a house with a box of tiny leather bags that each unzipped to reveal a different digital camera; the last one involved sneaking through a mansion with two characters from the comic ElfQuest.

I need to get out and do some work. But my motivation is sluggish even with a good cup of black tea.

Those are some interesting dreams!

I'm actually in a better mood than I have been in days, but it remains to be seen if that will have any effect on my motivations to do anything. Illogical, but true. *g*

I recall you dreaming about money -- lost or stolen money, I can't recall which -- at least once before.

And even though I know your abandoned house is fictional, I so want to go explore it.

In the "truth is stranger than fiction" department, the other day I saw this thing on the news about a man who is currently on death row. He'd been a bit actor on the Power Rangers as a kid and then he grew up, got married and had a kid or two of his own, and ... killed three people.

I'll tell you the rest if you want to know. It's ... if we wrote it in a story, people would say, "That's not realistic. Nobody would actually do something like that."

I knew there was a reason Mom wouldn't let me watch Power Rangers...

I can tell you that reason: they were annoying to those of us who weren't, like, five years old.

This guy apparently was an extra on a couple episodes, was all.

Yep, I remember reading about that guy on CNN or something like it. And that's the same kind of thing I tell Mr. N -- I'll read some strange and frightening story out loud to him, and say "If I wrote this, people would say 'Well, that's interesting to think about, but it COULD NEVER HAPPEN.'"

Ha.

SENSITIVE SOULS MAY WISH TO SKIP THIS STORY. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU.

He made the acquaintance of a nice married couple who were selling their big pretty boat. They got to know him, meet his wife and baby. He told them how he'd been on Power Rangers as a kid and had saved and invested the money from that, so he was doing well and wanted to buy their boat.

Eventually the couple arranged a test-drive trip with him and a couple of his friends.

The guys brought guns, made the boat owners sign legal papers giving various things, including the boat, to the psycho -- and then tied them to the anchor and threw them overboard.

I can't get over the horror of it, and the bad-movie cheesiness of it, and the stupidity of thinking the fucking paper trail wouldn't get them caught.

If you wrote a story like that, it'd get you howled at for pushing suspension of disbelief way too far.

Yup, that's the story. Absolutely horrifying, and that's from someone who felt like she pushed the envelope pretty hard on These Crimes Between Us.

What's interesting (to me, anyway) is that there are folks who do enjoy that kind of story, but won't comment.

Well, this being your journal, naturally it's the Titanic. On someone else's page it would be the QEII.

If only we could record our dreams! They'd make the best plot bunnies and premises for books. Or possibly not, given most of them are so bizarre, heh.
