The Sun Returns

And omg chiclets, was it ever welcome. It was a beautiful day today, sunny and just warm, with a brilliant blue sky. I stepped outside to hang a new suet pack and noticed that my pot of spearmint is coming back, with tiny green leaves.

Finished reading Robert Jackson Bennett's City of Stairs. Gentle Reader, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Political intrigue, a mysterious murder, the deaths of gods, a protagonist who is not only a woman of color but who also wears glasses. WHAT. This is the first book in a trilogy, but can definitely be read as a standalone (I have already ordered the second volume, City of Blades). I thought this was almost as good as Lev Grossman's The Magicians. Two thumbs up, enthusiastically recommended. :D
