Grey and drizzly all day. Finished reading Will Ludwigsen's In Search Of and Others, and I highly recommend it. There are fifteen stories packed into 196 pages, so they're all really short -- I think the longest one, "The Ghost Factory," is maybe ... eight pages? Six? Here's a quote from one of them, "We Were Wonder Scouts":
"Reality leaks," he told us at the first meeting. "The consciousness that imagines us into existence doesn't always remember all the details. It gets distracted. It lets things slip. It can't keep up the illusion in all places and all times, and it's our job to find those places and times, to peel back the edges."
If you loved The Twilight Zone and the writings of Shirley Jackson and Michael Chabon and Jack Finney, you'll like these stories. Two thumbs up.
Have started reading Colum McCann's Let the Great World Spin; so far (more than halfway through the first chapter, "All Respects to Heaven") it is terrific.
