For some reason have been watching a lot of movies lately.

1) Rango -- really enjoyed this. It was cute and funny and different and creepy, with some of the oddest little animated creatures I've ever seen. Johnny Depp was great as Rango, and I especially liked Abigail Breslin as Priscilla, the Desert Mouse.

2) Super 8 -- this was good, although I thought the first half was better than the last. The kids were terrific, especially Riley Griffiths as Charlie Kaznyk, the director of the film project.

3) The Bay -- oh my god, I can't believe we watched this. It's an ... eco-horror film. A small town on Chesapeake Bay is TERRORIZED by GIANT ISOPODS, hopped up on steroids from factory chicken waste and GROWING INSIDE PEOPLE. Did I say oh my god? And it was directed by Barry Levinson! Actually it wasn't that bad. There were some genuinely scary "gotcha" moments, but still. Giant doodlebugs.

4) I watched Tree of Life again, and I still think it's amazing and lyrical and true. I didn't even mind the dinosaur segment as much. Although I still think Malick could've left it out.

Also I watched the last half of Kill Bill: Vol. 1. I'm ... still not sure what to think about that one. *g*

So there. 4 1/2 things make a post. ;D
