Spent most of the afternoon watching a few episodes of the HBO mini-series John Adams, which apparently garnered considerable criticism for having Paul Giamatti play Adams. I rather liked him -- Giamatti was endearingly ordinary in the role, and it served to cut down on a lot of the larger-than-life hero-worship that often sometimes accompanies such portrayals of our "Founding Fathers." The best part for me, though, was the discovery of this actor:

That's Tom Hollander as King George III, and good lord he was great. He was only on screen for a total of about seven minutes, but I could not look away. Someone's put it up on YouTube, here. Note the very barest hint of a smile that touches his lips, not once, but twice. He was 47 when he met John Adams -- still a relatively young man, and Hollander as the King really brought that home.
Anyway. Hot outside, blah. Grilling some burgers later tonight.
