More bright sun, warm temperatures. Finished Hilary Mantel's Bring Up the Bodies late last night -- a strong two-thumbs-up and an A+ from me. Mantel is a writer at the height of her powers, and it shows. What an absolute pleasure to read. On the whole, I thought it felt a tad more claustrophobic than Wolf Hall, but I think that's to be expected when the subject matter is political intrigue and treason. I will really be sorry when this series comes to an end.

Also loved Sherlock's "Hounds of the Baskerville" last night. Cut just in case ...  )

And speaking of accents (ha), here is the trailer for Jesse Spencer's new fall series, Chicago Fire (page down to the bottom, it's the last one). I watched it in order to hear him speaking American, and he does a pretty good job. I have to admit I was more interested in his co-star, Taylor Kinney, who's got that whole brooding thing going on.

Had some of the raspberries I bought yesterday in my breakfast cereal (shredded wheat), and they were delicious.

Looking forward to House tonight.

New issue of The New Yorker came today, and there's a poem by Bob Hicok in it, called "Confessions of a Nature Lover."
