Sun is coming out slowly, which is a relief -- yesterday was just interminably grey and depressing. Also a little warmer at 50 degrees (10 degrees Celsius) but still quite damp.
Golden Globes was ... interesting last night. I did laugh at some of Ricky Gervais' jokes, although it did seem he went out of his way to be a gratuitous asshole at times. On the other hand, what was the Hollywood Foreign Press Association expecting? They must have known what they'd get. I must admit I don't understand the reports that Gervais was being so scathing to ensure he wouldn't be invited to host a third time -- if you hate the job/those people that much, why do it? Well, whatever. I was more skeeved out by Paul Giamatti talking about Godiva chocolates and then crushing on Halle Berry (context, ouch) and Robert Downey, Jr.'s weirdly suggestive/innuendo-laden listing of the nominees for Best Actress for ... Drama? Oh, and Robert DeNiro making some joke about all the waiters at the event being deported. It was just all very off-kilter and strange. Anyway, lots of folks looked awesome, especially Tilda Swinton. Someone on Twitter joked that she'd picked out her dress after spending five minutes in the men's shirts department at Marks & Spencer, but here she is, photographed last year by Sylvia Plachy. Cripes, but she's so amazingly beautiful.
Must fold laundry from yesterday, do other housely stuff. Blergh.
