Gah, I hate September in Texas. Calling it "Indian summer" is beyond charitable -- it's too warm and too humid. 86 degrees right now (30 degrees Celsius), but with 65% humidity, so it feels as if it's 93. Was plagued by hot flashes through the night, so blergh.

Fiddled with access filters this morning (what LJ calls custom friends groups, like First Readers, Annals Readers, etc.), so if you're meandering about in this journal and suddenly can't see something you knew you could before, let me know.

Otherwise a lot of housely stuff today. And the discovery of a bronze Roman parade helmet in Cumbria, expected to fetch £300,000 at a Christie's auction in London. That would be $462,285 and fourteen cents to us Yanks. *g*

Don't make me get out my decoder ring.

Reports of her speeches were printed in newspapers around the world. The Madras Herald printed Pearl's picture in early May under the headline "exfh (odd-shaped symbol like two tadpoles) bY 3 XeXfl 3 ha g" with a caption attributing the attacks on her to "her attitude of fairness and justice toward darker races."

Is that Unicode? Unicode with real Tamil thrown in? Alphabet soup with real Tamil thrown in? How would I even know?

At a loss,
