Sunny and 88 degrees. It was 103 yesterday and I think it's supposed to be the same today. Mr. N needs to go pick up his shirts today and stop by the grocery store. Not sure what else.

Why, yes, it's a very quiet morning. :-)

"A Social Whist Party"

Interesting ephemera from Room 26 Cabinet of Curiosities, which is the Beinecke Library at Yale University. The items are rent party cards, and I have to admit I wasn't quite sure what they were at first, so I read up on them here.

They're not great artworks, but it was fun to see some of these names -- Lucille and Minnie, Pollie Frink, Viola and Fannie, the Apex Girls of the Wayside Casino. And if you went to Bobby & Hazel's Mid-Summer Party, Fats Waller would be there playing the piano.
