So tired. Picked up the doggie this morning; she's been laying low all day and following me when I go from room to room. Hee. Did some laundry and put fresh sheets on the bed. Have been wanting to put the flannel sheets away, but the local weather guys are predicting another cold front coming through by tomorrow night.
Watched an animated movie this afternoon --
Sita Sings the Blues. It's a retelling of the
Ramayana, partially set to early American blues songs. The movie's by a woman named Nina Paley, and also tells the story of her marital breakup. It's pretty good -- beware, though, that it's being touted (on Boingboing) as a "short film" and it's anything but at an hour and twenty minutes. It
is worth watching -- the animation is charming and the songs are lovely. It felt a little padded to me, and I thought the parallel Nina Paley-framing could have simply been dropped, but it's still pretty good.
Housefic rec -- from
ignazwisdom. Cuddy makes a difficult, life-changing choice and must live with the consequences. That's about all I can say without giving more away (although some of you can probably guess, just from the story's subtitle). Guest appearances by House and Wilson and a few original characters. This is a powerful,
thoughtful tale -- I read it late last night and it's still haunting me. Go and read -- it's excellent and truly one of the best fics I've read in a while.
