nightdog_barks: Can of Maryland Club ground coffee (Coffee)
Overcast, cold (40) and much more humid (87%). Supposed to get all he way up to 52 today.

Need to finish doing Christmas cards and take them to the post office today. Other than that I don't know. Fell into a sort of existential hole last night and was v. unhappy; felt somewhat better after I went to bed and read more of White Sky, Black Ice.

The fic rec is for When the Trap Shuts, by [livejournal.com profile] bammel. This is a variation on a "five things" story -- five ficlets of about 1,000 words each, each one exploring an alternate version of the events of the "House's Head"/"Wilson's Heart" episodes. Rated R for themes and language. This is some excellent writing, guys -- give it a read.

I see LJ is playing "hide the icon" big-time this morning. Gah. Maybe more coffee will help -- me or LJ, I don't know.
nightdog_barks: (Bird Cedar Waxwing)
White-winged doves, mourning doves, juncos, chickadees, robins, sparrows, and tufted titmice. One of the titmice keeps throwing good seed out of the feeder so that he can get to the peanuts.

Last year we had virtually no birds. I'm glad to see them back.

Okay, must run errands.

Chaitin Volcano, Chile

This happened back in May of this year -- this is Chile's Chaiten Volcano blowing its top so violently that it created a big enough static charge to spark its own electrical storm.

There are more photos here and here. And here, at cracked.com, which is where I ran across the first photo.
