So life isn't quite back to whatever passes for normal, not yet. I keep thinking I have to get up and let her out, and every time I turn a corner in the kitchen I'm surprised by the absence of her water dish and food bowl. But I made a contribution to the SPCA of Texas yesterday (where we adopted Chango eleven years ago), and I've been looking at pictures of adoptable dogs and puppies. Just for fun, y'know.

Anyway. I read Matthew Thomas' We Are Not Ourselves, and it was good, but ye gods it was long. Plus the characters are so clearly drawn as to be "real," which means they are not always likeable. The writing is terrific, but it really is a long slog at times, and while I was interested in the characters, I don't think I ever really cared about them.

Next up, I think, is Stephen King's new novel that came out a couple of weeks ago. Also I believe we are ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow (we're cooking a half turkey breast, just right for the two of us), but I may still go out today, because it is really nice and sunny.
