The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - that you’d thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else, a person you’ve never met, maybe even someone long dead. And it’s as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.

— Alan Bennett, The History Boys

Saddened today to see that the great actor Richard Griffiths has passed away, aged only 65. He was just wonderful as Hector in Bennett's The History Boys.

Sunny and warm. :-)

Hi hi.

I had stuff to say but I can't recall what. Never saw The History Boys and now I'm interested.

As troubled as I am by that play, Griffiths was amazing in it (and in the movie) and that line is one of my favorite quotes. He really was a magnificent actor.
