Our seedling tomatoes have grown so tall they need help standing up, so off I went today to Lowe's for some tomato stakes. I also stopped by our neighborhood Barnes & Noble for a couple of 2013 calendars, and picked up a few paperbacks besides -- Carol Anshaw's Carry the One (I read her Lucky in the Corner and really liked it), Tony Horwitz's Midnight Rising: John Brown and the Raid That Sparked the Civil War, and Karen Russell's Swamplandia!. Also bought the Spring 2012 issue of Granta, and managed to get out of there before I could buy a knapsack I didn't need. Bookstores are dangerous things.
Warm and windy all day. Also, here is a fascinating story about a guy who peed on a pregnancy-test stick (because he could) and discovered he had cancer.
