Date: 2010-05-15 11:39 pm (UTC)That's very clever about the puppy pads. We had a similar problem at our old house with water from the carport flooding part of the living room. The kid was wee then, and we took a bag of disposable diapers and put them opened all over the floor and walked on them to soak up the water. It looked weird, but it worked great.
After several hours of some serious number-crunching and reality checks, we have come to the conclusion that the kind of car Corgiguy wants is just too expensive. Since we both have old cars, the new plan is to replace mine with a Honda Fit, which he'll drive to work on the days when I don't. We'll keep the Toyota, which has almost no trade-in value but is insanely cheap to insure, and sharing the new car will take some of the wear and tear off the old one.
