Well, that's different. It's overcast and 82 right now, with a predicted high of 92. Yes, please, and thank you. Of course it's supposed to be 98 tomorrow and 100 over the weekend, but it's not that steady, consecutive string of 100+ temps we've been having, and that is such a relief.
Not sure what's on the agenda today besides staying home. Maybe I can write a little (I hope) -- at the least I can start on my new book. Have decided to forego the fiction for the moment and read Rick Atkinson's Day of Battle, which is about the battles for Sicily and Italy in WWII.
And so it goes, with coffee.

This morning I've been looking up local ballroom dance studios and, more importantly, costume designers. Have found one big one, but I need to talk to Lyn before I approach her competition -- and yes, a designer in Minnesota is indeed the competition of one in Florida, because vendors go to the dance competitions from all over the country.
Lyn, however, is in NY on a missions trip of some kind. Back on Friday; probably totally brain-dead until Monday. She does have a custom gown in progress, something to be sent my way soon; I'm told that it's orange.
Meanwhile, I just quoted $200 to paint that (50" long) saw blade, and I expect the gentleman to have a severe case of sticker shock, given the prices on the painted-sawblade website he showed me. But ... I can't do this stuff for $130, because the quality of my work is much better, therefore more time-consuming.
If he goes for it, it'll pay my horse board for a month and I'll be quite happy.
Glad to hear you've had a minor break in the heat wave!
Are you putting the fiction-reading aside because you suspect it's interfering with your writing?

Nope -- as a matter of fact, I think part of the reason I was able to write Probable Cause is because I was reading Lush Life, and the voices of Price's irreverent, cynical cops fit right in with Bennie and Trevor's. I've just had this other book on my list for quite a while, and Atkinson's a really good writer, so ...
And I'm sorry, but I'm still finding the idea of a painted saw blade a little ... humorous. Heh.

Heh. No need to apologize; I think it's the Great White North equivalent of Florida's seashell/pelican art. However, if it'll pay my horse board for a month, why not?
I've been upstairs working on my files for my business & personal checking accounts. Great big honking mess, largely due to the depression I'd been suffering back home. I'm in a position now where I really have to take control of my life in a whole new way, and I think it'll be good for me.
I'm actually thinking of proposing a series of articles to the Star-Tribune, a "snowbird in reverse" kind of thing about the adventures and trials of being an artist and moving up from Florida rather than down.

I'm eating lunch (chicken-rice soup, canteloupe, iced tea) with one hand and typing with the other. Have abandoned all hope of getting out of work on time today, though.

Back from checking out my apartment and now getting started with prep: price comparisons on stuff like towels and flatware, and when I'm done
procrastinatingdoing that, brainstorming thesis ideas.Very exciting to hear about, I know. :)
