Wednesday

Partly cloudy, warm (86 degrees). Have been sneezing this morning, go me.

Dog wanted out in the middle of the night so got up and turned on the deck light. Saw something on our basil plant so stepped out onto the deck to investigate. You know, besides the spiny lizards and geckos here, we've also got anoles, which is a horrible name for a very cute little lizard. Well, the thing on the basil plant was a very small anole, maybe an inch and a half long. And it was asleep. On a basil leaf. So I said mmmm-kay and left it alone. I don't know, there are some things I find just amazingly wonderful and this was one of them. *g* I saw it again this morning (at least, I think it's the same one) awake and on one of our pineapple plants.

Later dreamed about two sets of extended families that were having this huge feud and shooting each other. Kevin Spacey (the actor) was there, as one of the brothers in one of the families.

So I think I need more coffee.

An Observation

This is one of the people receiving a Presidential Medal of Freedom today:

Joe Medicine Crow

That's Chief Joe Medicine Crow. He's 95 years old. His step-grandfather was White Man Runs Him, who was a scout for George Armstrong Custer. This means that Joe Medicine Crow grew up hearing stories about the Battle of the Little Bighorn, from people who were actually there. Amazing and awesome to think about.

The complete list of folks getting medals today is here. Harvey Milk is on the list, which is also pretty amazing if you think about it. :-)

Whiny Nightdog and An Icon

Argh, my sinuses are aching, especially on the right side of my jaw. Need to take some ibuprofen. And drink more red wine. Okay, not necessarily in that order.

Here's an icon for whomever wants it. I created it using the El Jay Icon Maker; the original is here. It's entitled Sudanese Woman and is by an artist named Madeleine Bunoust (1885-1974). I thought it was really striking, and that perhaps one or more of you guys might like to snag it.
