I understand why you have posted the painting, but your observation aside that is a fantastic piece of art. The sheen of the golden fabric, the sense that it's as thick and heavy as metal itself not brocade. I am not familiar with the artist, so thank you for introducing me to his work.

(Also yes, very apropos... and reminds me of the orcs in the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies, curiously enough. I wonder if the artist's work served as inspiration.)

Have you ever seen pieces of art done with heavier gold leaf, or actual hammered gold? It folds just like that.

Looking at the artist's other work he was definitely influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, but in a good way.

The painting you posted reminds me of the heaviest of the church statuary one sees in Europe, covered in gold looted from the Americas. The painting is brilliant on multiple levels.

My apologies for the double reply but I thought I would mention that it turns out I have seen several of the artist's works before, I merely didn't recognise the name. He evidently had a sense of humour!

Is it just me or are his hands a little small?

Ooh, that's a good one. Personally I think of Trump as a Ferengi.
