For the longest time ever, I thought Christian Bale was American; therefore every time he opens his mouth and speaks in his real voice I am surprised.

IMDB says he was actually born in Wales. When he speaks in his natural voice I hear what sounds to me like a somewhat working-class English accent. It's sure as hell not Cumberbatch or Dominic West or Ben Whishaw. Or Hugh Laurie, for that matter. *g*
