We may have a red-tailed hawk living in the live oak in our front yard. At least, I saw one at dusk yesterday on our roof (supremely ignoring me and the dog), and he (or she) flew from the roof to the live oak, where she (or he) ... vanished. And there's a nest up there, way up high. So, perhaps a resident? It might explain a few things -- like why I haven't seen nearly the usual number of smaller birds or cottontails around here.

Loved The Hour last night; I'm eager to see where they take this storyline with Hector. Looking forward to Person of Interest and Elementary tonight.

Thinking about it, I usually don't much care about the person they're helping until later on, in the second half of the show. They can take a while to build the character into someone who matters to me, and I'm okay with that.

I do sympathize with the cabbie, but he's not very fleshed out yet.

Bear was awesome! And then at the end in the park, he was all "THROW THE BALL THROW THE BALL THROW THE BALL PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ PLZ." Ye gods, what a high-energy dog!

Also, EWW at the dead guy on Elementary.

Yeah, that trips my eyeball-damage squick REALLY HARD EEEWWWWW.

But I did LOL at the assertion that for Holmes, boredom is way more deadly than 'flu. Because it is 100% Truth, and Watson knows it.

Janitor who's not really a janitor. On the other hand, I'm seriously surprised Holmes doesn't understand Mandarin. Or Cantonese. Or whatever those guys were speaking.

... also, Bonus Points for using the word "Kafkaesque" in dialogue. :D

I thought Holmes understood the language perfectly well, but chose not to give that fact away. It might have been useful to let those guys believe that he couldn't understand anything they said to each other. We've seen House pretend not to understand foreign languages when it suited him, too.

I called it, btw, on the real identity of the killer. As soon as we saw the files had been deleted, I called it.

You probably called it sooner. You're usually better than I am at that sort of thing. :-D

Heh, this was one of those episodes where I just didn't care about the dead guy. I was way more interested in Holmes and Watson. Good god but Jonny Lee Miller is amazing.

Oh, completely agreed. Watching Holmes and Watson progress as friends -- watching her give back some of the openness she has wanted from him, and him go out of his way to be there for her -- was fantastic, and far more interesting than the mystery.

But I was still paying attention.

This. That last scene when he showed up at the rehab center/shelter/whatever that was. It was just so good. I find myself wondering if that's what House might have been like, if he hadn't had the infarction -- still prickly and sometimes an asshole, but ... just not so prickly and so much of an asshole.

Actually, that scene felt very familiar to me and I've just remembered why:

House sitting with Wilson, on a bench at night, while Wilson waited for someone who they both knew wasn't going to show up.

House wasn't always so much of an asshole, either. <3

...ETA that, yes, I've wondered the same thing, though. Whether this Sherlock is what House might have been like, without the constant pain. Whether this was more or less the person Wilson knew, and Stacy knew, before. Hm.

Heh, no, not always. But I do think he was more of an asshole than Elementary's version of Holmes. I also think BBC Holmes is way more of an asshole than Elementary's.

It's interesting, all these incarnations. *g*

Yep, on the sliding scale of Asshole, this Holmes is not as extreme as our House.

And BBC Holmes just ... I don't even know. I'd say he's every bit as bad as House but in different ways, from what I've seen.

Yeah, BBC Sherlock can be an utter bastard, and yet he's got this ... incandescence about him that none of the others have. I think that's probably Cumberbatch's doing, the way he plays him. Plus Moffat and his crew have so much time to come up with flash scripts for a tiny series. (Tiny in the sense of only a few episodes, not fandom.)
