You can't overdo tomatoes. If nothing else, if you want to make spaghetti sauce with them, you have to start with a lot of them. A while back, I had a friend who was desperate to get rid of all their excess -- I tried to explain that if she made sauce out of them, she'd use a lot of them and it would be a million times better than that jarred stuff. When it came to telling her this, I failed... but a huge bag of fresh tomatoes is a hell of a consolation prize.
