Sunny and warm. Lots of blue jays coming to splash around in the water, finches and cardinals at the feeder. Too much stuff to take care of today and tomorrow driving me crazy.

I'm sorry you're having a bad day. :-(

I had a tooth pulled -- it was an incisor so now I'm wearing a thin retainer-type thing with a FAKE TOOTH in it. It feels just about the way you'd think.

Can you get different ones to change up your look, like a big fang? ;) Is it permanent or will you get a cap of some kind?
I don't have any work to do and am bored out of my mind. I can't get ahold of anyone by email or phone to get more work either. I'm wondering if I've been fired and they forgot to tell me.

I can get an implant in six months, my dentist said. In the meantime I have this plastic in my mouth. Ye gods, what fun.

Can't you sneak out leave early?

And it's not even this huge, hard-plastic clunky retainer. It's a light, flexible plastic, made to a mold of the patient's mouth. It just feels so squicky having something on the roof of your mouth like that.

Can I sneak out early? I can just not show up for work and no one would notice! I feel like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense, just cottoning on to the fact that holy hell the reason no one is talking to me is that I'M DEAD.

Actually, I do think they might notice eventually. Still, it sounds like you could have a reasonable case for working from home a few days a week. If you wanted to do that.

It's good. Chemo depresses your white blood count, so it gives any nasty bugs already in your system an invitation on a silver platter to come wreak havoc. So the doctors tell you to go ahead and have any dental work you've been neglecting done before you start chemo.

I went to elementary school with a kid who knocked out one of his upper front incisors on someone else's forehead (they collided running around a corner.) He wore one of those toothed retainer thingees until he finished growing and had a bridge made.

I am sure I will get more used to it (in some fashion) in time, but so far I am hating it.

Did they give you a little case for it? Corgikid accidentally threw one of his retainers away at Burger King once because his dad didn't make him take the case when they went out to eat. That was one expensive burger!

Yep, a little blue case. I left it on the bathroom counter while we had dinner and kept having visions of Chango stealing it. *g*

Heh, I remember when Chango was a puppy and she discovered toilet paper rolls -- she went streaking through the house, a steadily-unrolling banner of t.p. streaming behind her. One of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.
