Saturday, Wandering 'round the Internets
Sunny and much warmer than yesterday, have been writing on a fic I might actually be able to finish.
Did some Internet wandering last night and this morning, and it led me to some Beautiful Things.
I started out by looking for ankh charms, and that led me to these, which led me on into the seller's Etsy shop, which is where I found this -- a copper Saint Benedict's medal. Now, I think this is beautiful, but it's not the Beautiful Things I'm getting to. :-)
Anyway, I'd never seen a St. Benedict's medal before, and when I saw that one of his emblems was a raven, I had to read up on what a Trickster god and thief of the sun was doing on a Catholic saint's medal. It turned out a jealous rival had offered Benedict a poisoned loaf of bread, and the raven had carried it away in his beak. And that's how we get to the Beautiful Things, because one of the hits that pops up when you do a Google search on "Saint Benedict raven" has this beautiful illustration:

So. It's by an artist named Alison Kubbos, known as Lonelybadger on DeviantArt.
Here are two more of her lovely works:

Moth
and

Hare
And there you have it -- three Beautiful Things, after aridiculously fairly roundabout path. :-)

It's interesting -- the Avian Saint and all -- because I currently am working on a little cracked-concrete thing called Bird Bishop.

The Mormons believe they were saved by seagulls, it's their avian symbol.
