Sunday
Hazy sun, warm, 86 degrees (30 degrees Celsius). Mr. N is engaged in a lot of paper-shuffling because he's going to Miami tomorrow evening for a couple of days. My thumb and wrist feel a lot better (although they're still sore). This is another weird thing about all this -- whatever hurts will hurt ferociously for about a day and then ... just go away.
Not much going on yet, so have an absolutely amazing nature photo. It's from the Telegraph and is totally work-safe -- it's a confrontation between a jackal and a vulture, and was taken at Giant's Castle Nature Reserve in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.

I'm going out for a weekend grocery run, and will stop by a nearby Starbucks on the way to take advantage of a coupon. I'm in a mood where I just need to get myself out of the house to cheer up, but it's the leaving the house that's the hard part.

It's a lovely summery day here--we're just about the same temp as you, right now! and also quite humid--and we shut the windows a couple hours ago and turned on the fan of the furnace system. It's drawing cool air from the basement and helping keep the rest of the house cool, too, and we'll probably open up the windows again once the sun goes down. :)
Z is napping, and the Mr was amazingly productive this morning (he cleaned gutters AND mowed the lawn, whereas I...watched Z and swept the main floor), and now I'm online and doing some finances stuff.
So, Hi!
Also: Fabulous picture. :)

That's actually kind of cool that your furnace system does that!

It is kind of cool, isn't it? The thermostat-thing has an option for the fan to be 'auto' or 'on', and when the heating/AC is off and we just turn the fan on, it tends to draw air from the basement (and we have the dehumidifier going down there, even though the poor thing is nowhere near big enough to do the whole house, it helps)--so it kind of helps keep the place bearable without us having to turn on the AC. And use *quite* so much electricity. :)
I'm hoping that by the end of the day today I'm caught up completely on finances stuff, and that I can STAY caught up. Heh.

Yay catching up on finances!

I'm done with receipts, and balancing accounts, and now it's on to the stack of bills--most of which get paid online, so. Although I still have to balance the credit cards, damn. I forgot about those. GRR.
I'm totally going to have a popsicle when I'm done. :D
EDITED! Because YAY I am finished, and now Z and I are going to have ice cream cones. :)

Isn't that an awesome shot? I love the long horizontal line of the animals' bodies.

It's a hot day here but really nice -- very clear and sunny. Miss V. and I may go swimming later this afternoon. The water will be cold, but it'll be good for my banged-up knee.

Swimming sounds wonderful! And I agree, I think it would be excellent for your knee.

Here's hoping Mr. N. will have a smooth trip and be back soon. *crosses fingers*

I have mail to go through and am wondering what to do about an invitation to my cousin's wedding. It's halfway across the country during the busiest time of year for my job, and the bride's parents are trying to talk her into cancelling the wedding.

... and the bride's parents are trying to talk her into cancelling the wedding.
Oh dear. We once went to a wedding where the bride's mother got drunk at the reception and kept telling people her daughter had married the wrong man.

Wasn't that great? I just loved the dynamism in it, and, as I said to Euclase, the long horizontal line of the animals' bodies. Really a wonderful shot!
